oOple's Vintage Motor Library; The Brushed Era
Well we can all agree that today all brushed motors are now a thing of the past so I guess it seemed logical to create this thread in the vintage forum.
The idea is to create a library of ALL brushed motors with specs, pictures, tales, fails & small scale fires, racing history, etc... I bet there are some people here who would like to share a thing or two. So let us know which was you personal favorite, with what motor you beat who, infamous motors, special windings, secret brush cuts, tips, etc... Right of the bat I'll start by telling a short tale about Venom's Fireball motors... you can guess right away what happened... the name saids it all. Right in the middle of a heat a brand new Fireball 15t motor literally catched fire!!! What a piece of krap! At least it gave the track a bit of drama LOL One of my personal favorites, and not really that old, is Reedy's Challenger 19Turn motor... excellent duration and plenty of power PS: Those Reedy's 19T Challenger motors are capable of 47,000 rpms @ 7.2V with some brush tunning, timming and 12.8 amp draw, bit high but with an estimated 76% efficiency. Not bad for a 19T, those are really good motors. |

Exactly that!
It's the first time I ever saw those Kyosho's REV 360 motors, what was their application? NeilD, I am intrigued, what is the history & specs about the HPI UNO motors? I know that they where on Massami's Schuey's but that's about it. Where they were that good? Not long ago I built this guy as an experiment, just for laughs. Not exactly a bomb shell but it performed really good. I called it; "The 15x8 Gardy's Special". 32,552 rpms @ 7.2V with 5.07 amp / 35 watts draw, ball bearings, with an estimated efficiency of 76%. Dont remember the wire gage though. The other guy was a Thunder Tiger 550 based motor (still labeled as a 19T) which I made it a 12x1 and got from it 33,089rpms @ 7.4V(simulated Lipo) with 5.3 amp draw, no bb's. Pretty good rmps for a no bb and 550 rotor motor. |

Do you mean the REV 300T and REV 300S?

Exactly those.
I always wondered, why Kyosho never went serious with the Le Mans motors, I mean 12turns and things like that. Such a pretty motor that only seemed to perform in the shelf... |

Hobby Products International The company, originally an export firm, was founded in 1986 by Tatsuro Watanabe and a partner, each with a total investment of US$100 each. Their original office in Costa Mesa, California measured only 300 square feet (28 m2). A line of electric R/C motors called the Uno series were among the first products offered by HPI. Buoyed by the success of the Uno, HPI opened a small office in Japan that same year. 1987 would see world champion driver Masami Hirosaka use an Uno in his first IFMAR World Championship win in England. By 1988, the burgeoning RC aftermarket proved to be a boon to HPI USA as they started exporting popular American-made R/C products to Japan, including such familiar brands as MIP, Peak Performance and Paragon. I'll try and find specs for the motor. |

Information on the HPI Uno is proving difficult to find but I stumbled across the first motor and ESC from LRP.

Really Bert? (& K Rob) you really think they weren't 27t? I remember there were a lot of pretty quick 27t motors back then. The Revolution stock, Scorcher, and someone lent me a Parma Cyclone stock once for my Maxima, god it was quick.
