Speedo's just do it sometimes due to no fault of the racer. Is GTB brushed or brushless? Never seen or heard of a brushless releasing the magic smoke...

My Novak GTB speedo just went, with blue smoke, last year. It was just sitting there all plugged in waiting for the race to start.
I was told it was something to do with feedback from the servo but I dont know if this is true or not. I have only heard of this before on two other GTB's. I sent mine away to see if it could be fixed as it was outside the 120 day warranty and I was told no as it was too badly damaged. My mate who bought his GTB from the same shop at the same time is still working and it hasnt missed a beat in 3 years.
