Finally got round to working on this... more pics to come.
![]() Base is a 3mm carbon fiber plate with additional 5mm bracing on the sides. Still to finish up the rear shocktower mount, battery strap and probably a motor plate brace. |

thinking of attempting something like this myself but how do you cut your carbon fibre sheet???

Metalsaw than sandpaper sticked to a piece of wood or plastic or metal block- justto have flat surface.
Dont think the carbon fiber is an unobtanium unmachinable material. But you can mill it or cut it with waterjet. Does not matter if its a prepreg carbon or just wet press made. simple

Various parts milled out for this conversion. ![]() Assembled chassis ![]() Here's the chassis with the front and rear assemblies attached ![]() Rear needed to be milled for proper fitment of the various parts (hingepin blocks, gearbox, etc. ![]() Milled to fit the front assembly ![]() Batteries are held in place with locators on the chassis and a battery strap on top. ![]() Didn't have the right alu so I just made a motor plate support from a servo mount... ![]() |
