Lipo Capacity
Hi,
Looking at replacement lipo for the winter. Whilst I will be looking for the highest "C" rating that I can, I am still uncertain on the capacity. Have been using 5000mah 25C for some time and generally run 13.5 & 10.5 motors. Recharging after races only added 1300 to 1500 mah's. How critical is it to have batteries of 5000mah and above? Are there any advantage over batteries of say 3200 /3800mah batteries? Any comments would be appreciated. |

The C rating multiplied by capacity gives you your maximum discharge current. At the moment you have 5A (5000mah) x 25C = 125A
What amperage is your speedo rated at? In 2 wd I currently use a speed passion LPF speedo which if I remember rightly has an 80A continuous discharge rating. The lipo I'm using is 3600mah x 35C= 126A so more than sufficient. Whilst you are only running lower power motors you should not need larger capacity cells unless you specifically want the extra weight to balance the car.

I run 4200 (30c) =126A.
Plenty fast enough in 4wd. Nicely worded, clear and concise answer there Ian.

Presently use a range of ESC, SP GT2 (80amp), Tekin RS (102amp) and the trusted GTB (?? amp) Run mainly Saloon (Mi3.5) and 4WD Buggy (ZX5SP). Mainly looking for the punch that appears to be missing from my older cells. Looking at 3800mah Demon. Anyone any thoughts on these cells? |

The Demon's will do the job more that adequately - for the extra £5 you can get the 5000s.

def more punch from the higher c lipos but the only real benefit to average drivers is you can run 2 heats without fully topping up after the 1st one. def wont get away with that with tp 3200...
