Phat Bodies Chunk owners?
Well after a long search I am about to step into the realms of owning and running the Phat Bodies Chunk. I am a great fan of mid-motor conversions in 2wd 1/10 so as I am racing mini/micro at present, thought it perfectly logical to grab this tiny monster to thrash indoors through the winter months.
I am aware of some info regarding running experiences, set-up etc over on UkMicrox, but would like to make contact with other Chunk owners who may be able to share some set-up tips etc. I have spoken with the guys over at Phat Bodies who are very helpful...so, anybody running the 2wd side of Microx drop me a line please. Can not wait to run the buggy

I had one for the back end of the Micro Nationals last year, even won the last one at Ardent withh it. Fantastic car, I only sold mine on to concentrate on the 1/16th 4wd series at the Nationals.
You going to come along to a few? Telford, Dudley and Hereford all have one so it's not to far! |

Everyone I've ever seen runs either rally blocks or spikes on their chunks

Our tyre of choice for most tracks on the front are worn narrow mini mins in yellow compound. Nearly always with the inner and outer rows of pins chopped off |

staggers
Cheers Si,
I will stick with the mini pins I got with the buggy (second hand) I do have rally blocks also, so another option I guess. Cheers

Was having the same problem had stiffened the front up to try and stop the car turning up it's own arse but it just didn't feel right and didn't help much anyhow so outer and inner row of spikes cut/dremeled off huge difference just about right not sure what it will be like when the grip comes up on Sunday taking dremel with me if needed lol

I'm running with almost bold tyres up front now, and still steers amazing !!
A good way to bed front tyres in, is to bolt them on the back go do some donuts in the car park Then if you need more steering add weight just behind the steering bellcranks .... |

weights and screw mount issue
Ive currently got 10 grams behind bellcrank and it seems good. My front Mini pins are worn down well but I recon you could almost run complete slicks on the front as suggested Si...The buggy does not suffer from under steer and thats a fact .....anybody experienced an issue with the rear grey conversion block (around back of x6 gearbox) shedding its shock tower mount screws? Mine has worked loose after some rear end slaps on the ruggery lol...Si...how much is a replacement and do you have any at present mate?

We usually run 10gms on the nose and 10 behind the bellcranks with near bold tyres and it's just perfect ... even lends itself to a little handbraking into corners
I do have a few spare link blocks but its an easy fix if your screws are coming loose, just drill the holes a little deeper into the block, a 2.3mm drill bit is required and then screw in, should be fine, mines an original with no problems ..... |

rear mod block issue
Cheers Si, ill grab a spare if I can anyway mate ready for when this re drill gives up. Is everybody running 72 spur with the new gt14b rear arms? Seems there may be a small arm mod needed as at full compression spur taps arms, I did run a 70 spur but I noticed its stated in build thread that base set up has 72? Thoughts please guys

second run
Ran the Chunk again tonight, when I wasn't being demolished by buggies driving against the race direction....the chunk was lovely, I'm loving the jumps with the buggy and the nose goes exactly where you pont it...(Not always the rite place with my driving )
Really looking forward to a much needed rebuild and back on the track for some more 2wd fun....brilliant
