Hi Guys,
I'll drop in and try and give you some answers to things. The track: The region never holds any influence over the track used at events, many clubs are not fortunate enough to have 2 different tracks. Due to this, it is entirely the choice of the host club as to which track is used for each event. When allocating meetings, as we are now aware, due to a lack of venues, we are going to 3 venues on 2 occasions during the year, one of these said venues is Coventry and it would seem logical that they wish to use their 2 tracks for the 2 events, a luxury many venues don't have. In addition to this, the thinking when awarding the opening event to coventry was that they COULD run the first event on their astro track if the weather was poor as is likely in the UK during april. So they appear to have decided to run the 4wd event on the astroturf, and it is their right to do this. It is also their right if they wish to hold the 2 events on the grass, which if the situation changes I'm sure they will let us know in time. (to make it clear, regardless of which track is chosen, the same controlled tyres will apply: bb spikes and schumacher minispikes) I understand some people's concerns about the astro track, it is limited in terms of layout and is also very technical but it is another option within the region and we should be grateful of that. Timetable: We are heading towards 70 entries for sunday, which is great, thank-you all for your support. Therefore we will look to get things moving and will aim to get booking-in under way some time between 8 and 8.15. 5 min practice in heat order will then commence at 8.45am followed by drivers briefing and hopefully qualifying will get underway by 10am. 2WD heat: until now, no-one has requested a 2wd heat, so currently we have no intention of having a 2wd heat. As said, the entry is quite big in the context of a regional event so it may not be logistically viable, for those that don't know, we have 3 legged A finals at MW regionals so we have to take timings into account. See you all sunday

is there any reason why he can't run his 2wd at 4wd weight and points score?

The only thing that puts me off is it's quite rough compared the grass, that said I'm still going.

My personal choice would be grass but saying that if the club choose to run on the Astro then discussion over. It is not local for me either but if it means travelling 2 hours to win a meeting then so be it

According to Yardees comments above, no 2wd class but having said that there are a few of us from the Hinckley club with 2wd's but no 4wd who'd be interested in racing if possible. The question has been asked on the Coventry club forum. Although it may be a bit optimistic this late in the day. If not I'll be adding weight to the car and run in with 4wd. |

Yes it is a bit late, i believe that it would need to be the region that decided about extra classes due to it all being central booking now, and as the numbers are quite high already then i dont believe there will be a separate 2wd heat, but as stated you are more than welcome to make your car 1588g and race in the 4wd heats
