B5M set up questions
Hi Guys,
So I had bought a B5M off here not to long ago. And love it!!! But i wonder what difference running gull wing arms make over straight? I have straight in at the moment. And what shock oil / pistons do you guys run? I want to service the shocks but don't know whats in it now! I'm using it on Astro at A1 and experimenting /learning about how to set things up. Thanks in advance Si |

I found you have to add limiters in the socks to get the desired ride height whilst keeping the car stiff
I use 1.7mm / 40wt / YAS-675-Blk Spring up front & 1.6 / 32.5wt / AE Grey on the rear with 5mm limiters in both Below is a link to my full setup which I use on carpet and when running on Astro I would soften up the suspension dependant on how bumpy the astro is. I found its also essential to re-fill the gear diff every two races as it just disappears, this prevents the car spinning out / over rotating on the corners (10 - 15K) dependant on the grip levels. Reduce the steering to 82% also. Craig Link to Download Craig Mason's setup sheet for a Associated B5M from the Fun Day. http://www.dialedsetups.com/sheets/d...n-day-1921.pdf |

Mmmm....hardly a "standard" B5m set up ! Low rider 3 gear box with gear diff and on foam tyres..!

I've found when run in conjunction with the B5 front tower the straight arm's reduce steering, this allows you to load the front up with weight to regain that loss and in doing so better balance the cars weight distribution. As for pistons kit 1.6/1.7s then oils and springs to suit conditions I ran 37.5 purple front 32.5 yellow rear at Southport last week but 32.5 grey front 30 grey rear a month prior at Chadderton.

Not sure if agree with the straight arms giving less steering but if it works for you that's cool If I were you start with the basics Front shocks 2x1.6 40wt red Spring outer hole on arm inner hole on tower Rear shocks 2x1.6 32.5 green Spring inner hole on arm inner hole on tower 1 shock limited front and rear This should be easy to drive if it's a little too aggressive on the front go to a purple front Spring if it callapses mid corner and breaks traction go to a white rear Spring Make sure you are on the correct tyre
