Thanks for the kind words lads
Muscat is a great holiday destination and a cruise-ship stop off so if you're ever here give me a shout and I'll sort out a car for you! The outdoor tracks were a killer here in the summer where it regularly reaches 48 deg C, even at night so the existing almost finished indoor venue is a godsend with it's coooool air conditioning. Nice to have something here when I eventually leave and return to the UK and nice to know that our brilliant hobby is now growing in another country. On another note - I've just ordered my ZXR shell from Team Bluegroove Dan |

this is how i paint a lazer body
on the team bluegroove bodies you can draw at the outside of the body on the protective paint film a have circle. you can use a little jar or something like it to draw the circle

nice work, does the bluegroove bodies come with decals?

No they dont. These shells are very thin so wouldnt be advisable using out doors unless you buy a chassis sticky protective layer to put onto the undertray as they do disintigrate quite quickly. That reminds me time to chase Kamtec again.

Sorry, circle for what? The window masks?

circle ?
if you draw the circle with a black pen orso on the outside onto the paint protection film and you use some kind of white or very light masking tape on the inside for the front window you can see the cirle from the inside(it shines thrue) and you can than cut the masking tape very carefully and very lightly, that's how i think i did that job. but i'm not sure anymore.

Hi,
Thought I'd post some updated pics of my ZX-R. I reckon the chassis is finished for now, just need to sort out the camber and toe etc but that will be done when I get the shell sorted and give it its maiden voyage. Since I posted my last pics I have fitted some original ZX-R wheels (won on ebay), fitted a new ESC (Modelsport Sniper RV 12T), sorted the wiring and polished the motor plate(s). Bad joke alert!!! I remembered I had some metal polish in the van so I have been busy in my hotel room polishing my bits.... SORRY.... The wheels were a bit scuffed when they arrived (they are used parts) but I think they have cleaned up well, I used some PVC cleaner (the stuff for window frames) and that seems to have cleaned and brightened them up well. Not too sure I like the bullet connectors I've fitted. I may solder the wires and fit some heart shrink to tidy it up further. Must get the shell done now. DanB4 - The tracks in Qatar look amazing, best get learning to drive my ZX-R properly. |

Hi,
Thanks for the tip, they are a bit flexy to say the least, will see what the fitter at work has laying around his workshop. I'll also look into getting the suspension mounts from fibre lyte too. I have the parma tom cat shell to paint and I reckon thats the one i'll use mainly but I do fancy getting a ZX-R shell (either a tbg or kamtec (should he do one and my preferred choice) in the future so I can have a stock looking car too. Looks loads better now though, with the disk wheels and polished bits. |

Are the current yellow Lazer ZX5 wheels (available to buy today) exactly the same as the original Lazer ZX-R ones?
When I search Google for the part numbe rin the ZX-R manual I get the new items, although with a new part number but the old number in brackets? Cheers, Dan |

I believe the old yellow lazer wheels are 2.0" diameter. The new one should be 2.2"
But welshy should know more. Quote:

Cheers.
Just won some fronts on eBay, the W-5026's Needing some W-5027's for the rear of my Lazer ZXR. When I Google the 5027's I get a modern day replacement, for example: LINK See description "Kyosho 4WD Wheel (Rear/Yellow/Pair) (Replaces W5027) (W5204KY)" So are these W5204KY's a different colour or design that the 5027's? Now I have the original fronts I naturally want them to match the rears in design and colour......now just to search for the 'H' pattern original kit ZXR tyres. Thanks, Dan |

Also you could get the accesories that the zxs had and were black spoked wheels so were being used by two of team kyosho, bob gammon and dave bailey. They are still available.
