Can anyone give me some information about what's the best video camera to use for making some vids of the micro's and also what software to use to upload them onto the PC and also edit them (music etc) ..... got some good ideas but not enough brain power LOL

Almost any proper home camcorder, I would still plump for DV tape and not DVD based but then....... software can be Windows Movie Maker which may come with windows (xp) assuming you are not using a mac then you would have imovie.
best bet is to keep it simple.
