You know what they say Adam, if you can't win then at least look good trying

As my Cat has been sitting on a shelf for almost two years (it was never meant to be a shelfer!) I thought I would dust it off and give it a run this week at Silverstone..

Decided to run a shorty instead of saddles and add some K1 Aero big bores as the originals badly need a rebuild and one is a little on the bent side..

Also added some new electrics, so running an Orion 6.5 , albeit with everything turned down and a long delay...

Quite looking forward to a bit of a play, although the novelty spikes will be replaced with some mini spikes and staggers on the front to try and keep it consistent and take some of the pressure off the front diff/main belt...

Adam, I ran my ProCAT with a 6.5 speed passion at Silverstone a couple of weeks back.
Its got a slipper and it was ok, the belts didn't slip or anything but by the end of the night the diffs were feeling rough, so I think they took the strain.
Dan runs a 6.5 in his too but he has one way drive shafts in the front (which I don't) so possibly this helps the front diff a bit.
I ran normal staggers and spikes and the balance was about right.

It will be good to see your CAT running again :-)
If you can keep it in one piece I'll bring mine along next week, or possibly even the Yoke if I pull my finger out!

I'll keep it together now Nige, got some spare electrics so might even get the intruder wired up too!

Might chuck some one ways in the front if it makes it more reliable.. Hmmm..

Did you add any weight? It's only 1490g complete, Seems a little light. (Especially compared to my K1 at 1690 without wheels/tyres!!)

Ta! Every car I have is painted the same, bit femine but I like to think I'm rugged enough to get away with it!

adamf, just noticed you posted that you were having problems aligning the belts in your cat due to the layshaft inserts. we always used to throw away the inserts and push a flanged ballrace into the layshaft ballrace as this removed all free play which was always there with the plastic inserts, until going to mms layshaft anyway. also have you checked that the gearbox is straight on the chassis, put a straight edge front to back before tightening the chassis screws, had to set my xls like this as gearbox twisted to one side until motor surround was replaced

I didn't add any weight, I do run mine with saddles though, so I guess that makes it something like 60g heavier.
