lc racing emb1
Been going round in circles trying to decide what to get.
i like the look of the emb1 and now find myself wondering if i buy the kit roller then all the electrics. Or it looks quite cost effective to buy the rtr with speedo and motor and just fit my own radio. I drive sticks anyone here been racing one and able to comment on possible weak points or what upgrades are really considered as needed.

Hi.
I've been running my EMB-1 for almost 2 years now and think it's a cracking car for the price. i'd recommend buying the standard kit over the RTR as you only get plastic shocks and shock towers etc and these will need to be upgraded to alloy - as is standard in the normal kit. The ONLY upgrades you'll need are the crush tubes for the wheel bearings (£4.99 from thumbs designs) and i'd personally recommend the carbon steering drag link (£12.50 from sos-mmrc.com) - that's all! The spec of the standard kit means that you get front CVD's (you don't need rear), alloy motor mount, gear diffs, allen head screws, even a set of pinions as standard.... you could get a set of losi/carisma soft springs but that's really all you need to make it very competitive. The only thing i've broke on this car is the steering knuckle arm - but the latest ones have been beefed up to stop this - if you build it right there are no weak points that i've came across. Electrics wise, i'm running the Savox 1257 servo (i've never tried the kit one but i've heard it's ok) Emax 4950 motor and hobbywing 35A speedo (you don't NEED the 60A) - with this set up you'll be fine for nationals or club level racing. I hope this helps. Andy funge |

The kit servo works great and I would go for the LC Racing 380 Brushless motor , more than quick enough. I`ve been racing my buggy indoors for over a year and have only replaced the wheel bearings and few bend hinge pins

cheers been looking into it and might buy that kit motor, seems that theres different shaft sizes on different motors? no clue what DP the gears are so Im worried about buy a motor that I cant then get pinions for
nothing in life is ever simple

You won`t be disappointed with the kit motor and you get 3 pinions with the car.
Gears are mod 0.5 |

Its worth replacing the kit rod ends .. stock are a bit flexy and can pop off if you hit things .. Schumacher ball grippas fit well and don't pop when you adjust camber ..
Kit motor's great btw .. geared mine on a 22t pinion and its smooth as a babies ... |

I will post a few links to what i have fitted to mine. I run a Carisma GTB but the electrics can be used in the EMB.
Batteries, this is what 98% of people run http://cdn.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...turnigy%202200 I run this servo and its lightening quick! And its spec is better than anything out there for the money, its just incredible for the price http://cdn.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html ESC's, both the 35amp & 60amp have the same footprint, the 60amp is a few mm's higher http://cdn.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html http://cdn.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html Motors wise if i was you and you wanted to get going for minimal cost then the Carisma motors are brilliant. Either the 4500kv (i have one and its spot on) or the Carisma 5700kv (i have one also). I now run a Leopard 5800kv 4 pole motor and that's incredibly smooth! Personally i wouldnt go for the 6800kv Carisma as thats probably going to be a little high for most tracks your probably race on. http://www.tracksidespares.co.uk/pro...rushless-motor http://www.tracksidespares.co.uk/pro...rushless-motor http://www.tracksidespares.co.uk/pro...nsorless-motor I thought i would give you some links, trying to find stuff blind is difficult. I wont comment on the actual car hop ups as i run a GTB but these electrics are pretty much spot on and will get you going at a competitive level

Hi, just got one an EMB1, ran it once and really like it. Looking through this thread the SOS drag link looks to be a good addition, but I can't seem to find out if SOS are still producing and/or selling it...does anyone know? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks! |
