Ah, thanks for the explanation Groomi.

Yeah, the auction ended at a weird time, i wasn't expecting to get it at all as I only put a pound over what the guy put it up for - i got lucky lol! I mainly wanted it for the diff, belt and slipper parts. I read that the Works gearbox was different, but wasn't 100% sure why - thanks for the explanation.

Not liking the thought of drilling holes in my chassis lol, i think i'll learn to love 'dynamic squat'

Thanks for link Graham, just joined!

Ha dam me! Thank me I nearly bought both yours to use for spares

The cars in really good condition throughout, like you say the chassis in really good nick, not mint but not far off, it has been cut though to allow for more anti squat, I've bought some chassis tape to try and protect it abit as it will be a runner not regularly but still a runner. Other to that the shock pistons had swollen and were binding but running them round on emery paper soon fixed that. The biggest handling problem I had was lack of steering partly because I'd had to use an old old servo which I eventually hot wired, the savox I put in originally drew that much power that esc wouldn't work whilst on full lock, I'm sure I can get it to handle better just looking at some AE T4 spring kits at the minute and now I'm thinking about it I wonder if B4 or losi small bore pistons fit, gonna go to a saddle layout aswell probably move the weight forward, I did read somewhere about someone stacking 60g under nose cone, its a work in progress

In that case Neil, you're my hero lol.

Any pics of the anti-squat mod, was this a team mod in the 90's...actually, just looking at a pic of a works chassis (see atached) is that why its cut at the rear?

Manged to buikd up the transmission the other night, not happy about the smoothness of it yet, so i'll go back and attempt to sort it out at a later date, i am however pretty happy with the overall look. Have attached a few more pics - again, sorry for the quality.

Tonight will hopefully see the big bore shocks being assembled and bolted on...although i reckon they'll be some install issue(s) to sort first!

Neil, did you get those arms i linked you to?

Cheers,
Chris

Yeh that's how mines cut maybe a little more sympathetically but pretty much, it allows the wishbones to go higher when top of front pivot block is shaved off, talking to a team driver from the 90's he said he wasn't aware of it or something he'd done, the common one for the time was to move the gearbox back which meant re drilling the chassis spacing the rear tower and junking the motor guard, this fetched the drive shafts more inline as well as moving the weight back. as for the front wishbones yeh I've been watching them but I don't fancy paying that postage when I know it'll cost less, £10 probably a good price for them if they were new in fact I'd probably pay more but ones not, and when you've just sent some RC gear out yourself and payed less first class next day signed for you feel slightly aggrieved! Plus I'm tight! the bad thing is if they were £14 free p&p I'd have probably bought them, I may have issues.

Been a busy week, baby number 3 arrived last Tuesday so things have been manic at home, but prior to it all kicking off i got a night of Cougar building done - here are a few pics (plus a few of the CAT 2000 project that i started before the Cougar one).

Had to come up with a couple of options to fit the big bores and camber links etc, but i think it looks ok.

Enjoy the pics.

ps - thanks for the message keith lol

Cheers guys, got to do a final push to get them fully finished. Shells for both cars to do, then installs etc.

The Cat went well at a meeting back in November. have sorted a few issues out and expect a lot more out of it once we hit the astro in the spring.

SB, if you look a few posts up (#27) there is a chap who might have some going spare. If not check out the Schumacher page on FB or go to the Schumacher forum (found on their homepage at www.racing-cars.com) and put a request in - good luck!

Well, after a bit of a lay off I have put the finishing touches to the Cougar 2. I'm happy with how it turned out, but it's a bittersweet completion of a project as the car has to go...gutted, but there you go.

If anyone is interested in the car and parts shown as a bundle, then please contact me with offers. Vintage stuff is hard to put a price on so I'll wait to see what you guys think its worth

Enjoy the pics, any questions just ask.
