Hi Chris,
I knew you'd be using the Tamiya on Sunday, did you get the brushless in ok? I tend to use the setup Jimmy posted on 03rd of March in this thread. The only change I made was to have 0 camber link washers in the front, and 1 camber link washer in the rear to alter the roll axis angle. For indoors, especially Teesside where we can expect some slippy floor on Sunday, I am using a diff in the front as opposed to the one way. Hope this helps. See you Sunday. Chris P. |

I run the same setup and have not heat problems?
Check your belt tention, It might be on the tight side causing the extra drag on the drive train... and, no foam spacers and stuff in the diff outdrives...

Can anyone please advise?
I raced at my local outdoor race track the past weekend, the track has lots of loose sand on the fairly hard surface. resulting in minimal traction. i would not of had a problem with my 501x, but my friend offered that i should give his B44 a few laps around the track... thats when I realised that my 501x has a problem, My car feels dead compaired with the B44? I like a responsive car and took to the B44 emediatly. Now I need to know, is it my setup that seriously lacks or is the 501 a bit more dull? Less responsive to steering input?

a lad showed up at our track in Townsville,Qld,Australia with a full Tamiya option 501x last night and damn that thing was sweet.it was built to kit setup with the alloy options added including front 1 way and absolutely smoked the B44's and BJ4's and Losi's that reside at the track.it was quite a treat to see it in action as well, it seemed to handle the big doubles and rough stuff with ease.he was running a 10 quad reedy i think and all the other 4wd's are running brushless setups.
track is a smooth in some areas, rough in others clay type surface that usually works best running losi ifmar pins (with 2wd buggy) i race 2wd buggy so i am not sure what tyres he runs but on a 2wd ifmars are the tyre of choice.we generally water the track down at interval to keep traction up. he used to run a BJ4 worlds and he had nothing but praise for the Tamiya.i was quite shocked to see a Tamiya on his table to tell the truth. was good to see a new breed of car on the track for a change.

was good to see a new breed of car on the track for a change.[/QUOTE] They are like a virus! One arrived at our club closely followed by a second, 8-12months later and there is now 7 racing regularily and a few others. We quite often have an A final of all 501x's. ---- As far as setup wise we run the kit setup with a few changes made to shock positioning (more upright rear shocks) and a few other minor adjustments. I can do up a full setup if anybody was interested. This is on polished wood with occasional bits of carpet probably 90% wood, the carpet is mostly for jump landings. |

It is NOT correct. Crucially, the Durga One-Way DOES NOT WORK in this car. You are running the front one-way backwards but do not know enough about the car to realise it. The rest of your post is meaningless/misguided. I know a few people on the board like to pull your leg and I know you enjoy it - I'm not here to pull your leg - I'm just going to ask you to STOP posting stuff you know nothing about, because one of these days someone will take it as fact and will end up in a costly mess. |

bad advise...
If Jimmy says it's bad advise then so be it. He has been posting on rctech under the oople name, and has said the durga front one-way will work. Jimmy is this a bad setup?

Your Worlds 501X comes with a 50/50 split - 37t pullies at either end - the older car came as standard with an overdriven front end. I made the mistake of thinking that unbalanced the car or simply didn't matter - quite the opposite, it really makes it easier to drive on low traction surfaces (on high traction its probably not noticable either way) You can get a 36T pulley for your ride - they are the white TA05 36T pullies and come in diff or one way styles (bigger hole in the middle is the only difference) - I'd definitely give this a go if you're finding the rear loose as it really helped me on low traction clay tracks.

Lastly, that is not a setup. It is a component/electronics list. Use the oople or Tamiya setup sheet and call that a setup.
