For the people who don't use the motor plate mod: 20/75 (AE spur) works perfect as well. I'm using a 21T pinion, mesh still seems fine to me.

Most of the team boys are gearing there CR2's a little higher to spred to torque out.
I run a 26 with a 7.5 and a 24 with a 6.5 using Losi speedo and motors. Tony

I´m thinking of converting my Losi into a CR2.
What is the version most of you are running? LHD,RHD, idler mod? Which version do I need to do the idler mod? LHD? With the idler mod I don´t need a speedo to run the motor reverse? Thanks! |

you don't need to adjust your gearbox. When you want to add the Idler mod, you need to buy the LHD version. And no, you don't need a speedo that runs reverse when you use the LHD version with the Idler mod. You can use a normal speedo. Hope this are answers at all you questions. Otherwise; just ask

But if you do go for the RHD version, the gearbox mod isn't too hard.

All questions answered, thank you! So I think I will go for the LHD Version.
One more question: What´s the advantage of the idler mod? |

You can run a normal spedo since you don't have to reverse the direction. It gives an odd number of gears which reverses the output and spins the spur the way it used to.

But it changes also the turning direction of the motor, so it does affect the handling of the car, doesn´t it?

Couldn't tell you that (am using the RHD), your motor will still spin in the original direction, so I wouldn't have thought it would cause much issue. I might be wrong though

More rear traction/grip ON power

If I had to choose, this is what I would do knowing what I know now.
(BTW, I have worked on both LHD and RHD cars) Get the LHD version:- If you’re racing indoors only over the winter, don’t use the idle mod just run the car in reverse for the winter. If you’re planning to run outdoors during the winter use the idle mod and run the speedo in normal rotation. If you don’t have a reverse speedo just use the idle mod straight away. Tony

Diff rotates forwards, Idler in transmition rotates backwards which means spur gear rotates forwards. For the spur gear to rotate forwards the motor has to spin backwards eg anti clockwise which lifts the car. It does not mater which way you have the transmition mounted LHD or RHD for the car to go forwards the spur gear has to rotate forwards hence why on the RHD you have to run the motor in reverse 4 gear transmition works as follows Diff rotates forwards, Idler in transmition rotates backwards which means spur gear rotates forwards, then additional idler on motor plate rotates backwards and the motor has to spin forwards eg clockwise which pushes the car into the ground and gives you more rear end grip on power. 4 gear is the way to go wether it is like the X6 and has the extra gear in the transmition or like me you come up with a make shift way by using an idler on the Motor plate.

Si, I was thinking about writing a little explanation. Glad you did know!!!
Only other thing, from memory some people did like the three gear X6 because it gave more steering and a back end that moved around. I don’t though!!!

Hmmm, reading that I might shift over to LHD with the idler when the revised motor plates come out, i'm useless at cutting. Anyone know an estimation of when the plates might be done?
