Looks a great venue.
What about a sand filling in the hoses in sections, say 3m long sections that could be dragged into position from a store once the carpet is down. Cheers Chris |

In the old days of the Liverpool club we used to have sand filled hoses.
They are quite good for staying in position, but to be flexible enough to bend round corners you can only half fill them. hence they tend to be a bit flat and don't do much to stop cars straying over. It might be an idea to fill the first 2 metres packed full of sand, then clamp the next 4 inches closed (with nuts and bolts or soemthing), then fill the next 2 metres full and clamp the next 4 inches closed etc etc. You could make up full lengths of hose then, that are sturdy and heavy but have flexible joints at section intervals to allow folding up and bending around corners. |

Woody, Roger, this looks like the answer to Winter racing in the North West, as regards flooring, the pictures look like it is rubberised, I just wonder what damage a car could do to the floor if it turned upside down at speed, probably cut the floor and break the car.
I have a potential solution though that could help. I will PM you some info. |

Good news on the venue. What is the address? I don't recognise it.
Any testing, visiting, help needed, so let me or my dad know. It looks like a Schumacher Minipin surface - in that it looks like Worksop, they don't mark that surface but without testing I wouldn't presume that they won't mark this. Is there any carpet available to lay down if it does mark easily? Chris |

There's going to be a lot of work involved with the steel brackets so I've been playing with inflating them. Really good, nice bends or curves and the more air the straighter they get. Unfortunately I can't seem to seal the ends. Best result yet is a bracket welded out of two bits of angle iron and bolts through one side to form a vice. Again more welding. AND the air valves seem to be like rocking horse s h one t. ...............Any volunteers ??

This may not be cost effective for the club, but could you not look at the same track making idea as Worksop. I believe this is up-turned guttering in 3m or 5m lengths, with gaffer taped joints.

get some old motorcycle inner tubes and cut out the valves you can put them through from one end and the nut that would go on the outside of the rim goes on the out side of the tube, to seal the end's, add silicone sealer at the end fold over and roll up once or twice and clamp with a mole gripp, or make a round bung silicone it in and jubilee clip that

Why fill them with air ?
Use builders foam a little squirt here and there and it holds them up. Sets hard and its light so easy to carry and store |

You dont need to fill the entire hose. Just a squirt every meter or so would be plenty.

Venue looks great. Bit difficult to gauge size but it certainly looks big enough.
Hose looks good - is it old West Craven stuff - looks familiar. Why does it have to stand up? For club racing if someone decided to start cutting the track - well - the jokes on them. If it is the old West Craven stuff we just used to lay it out in the sports hall at Towneley school and let it flop about in loops to make the track - it was no problem - it's only a track marker. It may be a little difficlt to see - red on red - spray it white with some car paint?

We are going down for 14:00 today to see if the car marks the floor and hopfully we will get some date with the manager of the building so hopefully we will know soon!

It has been booked! IT is the big place in the pictures and there is loads of grip. We had worn minispikes on and it was cool. The first meeting is on the 2nd november and doors open at 10 and racing should start at 11 ish. There is a couple of rules though! You can only drink water in the main hall. NO playing in the sand pit and Do not brake anything. It been over 15 years since we had an indoor venue and this is 1 of the best I have ever seen. Much like Worksop but grippier and brand new. More info to follow.
