Simon, very interesting to see a light weight set-up for the FS.
Have you done any back-back testing light weight to normal? If so how does the car compare in terms of drivability? Reason I ask is that I'm curious as to if running a light car becomes a really handfull or not as my main reason for not going LiPo is that I see no point if your then adding weight back to make the car back to the same weight as NiMh! |

Only run the car 3 times. I must say that it is alot more drivable now and faster cos' of the lipos. Sunday at Stotfold was first time out with the light set-up and it was lacking steering at the start of the day but each time i changed something it got better, next is to try short wheelbase and see if that works or not! I have a suspicion it will. The single most difference was changing to mid-arms, the rear just seems more planted, hence standing the front shocks up 1 from kit. Noticed that he car drives flatter cos' of the lowered diffs to.

Link to the ZX5-FS setups on Petit Rc
http://www.petitrc.com/setup/kyosho/...azerZX5FS.html PDA set-up was a compromise as I didn't have much time to change the car from it's generic astro / grass base set-up at this event ... talk about a fast paced meeting! I have a revised version for Cov from the very cold meeting last weekend but can't save it in a suitable format Basically it's the same as the previous Cov one except Front, 2mm under inner ball stud, 0mm under outer, 3B piston Rear, no rear ARB, 1 pip spacer under rearmost rear hinge pin bracket and rearmost toe insert changed to D out cells mounted in back position Car was VERY good in this configuration on a track that was quite slippy in places. This might well become my starting 'wet' astro set-up. Early on I tried to run the car in permenant 4wd, this proved to be a disaster with DNFs in practice and the first 2 rounds, one-way refitted and car was born again ... back to it's normal self and a joy to drive. |

How much do people make use of the roll bars as it's not something I've generally used before?

They are predominately used to weigh your spares box down a fraction
Seriously, forget them unless your going indoors on a TC style track as the car has no need for them on UK style tracks! |

ZX5 sports hall setup
Hi guys,
I'm in need of a bit of help for a set up for a low traction smooth sports hall track. Our club changes the track every week so I am looking for a good base setup to get me started. The floor is slippery and we run schuie full spikes as a control tyre. Apart from that I have had some tweeks from some club members but no-one else races a kyosho so I am a bit lonley on the setup front...also i am new to the sport & club so don't want to annoy everyone with too many questions too soon Any ideas where to get started would be great, I have tried petit rc but there are no sports hall setups (for the standard lazer) & as it is an older car not expecting any to show up either! Thanks chaps - hope someone can help Craig |

This is where I ended up at the recent Coventry Astro track with the ZX-5 FS2 SP. The track was wet to start but dried throughout the day.

Sorry for daft question, but you have Gold Springs on Front, orange on rear? Are these xgear springs as I thought..
Super Hard - OrangeHard - YellowMedium Hard - RedMedium - GoldMedium Soft - WhiteSoft - Pink So you have harder springs on rear? Interested to know what the kit springs are for both the FS SP and the RB5 SP WC too. |

I believe that the springs have been reversed on the set up sheet by accident, I was at one of those meetings and was looking over Kev's car so I'm relatively confident of that statement.
I "believe" that the springs are not X-gear springs but equivelent rates to pink front / red rear on the Sp2-WC and yellow front / red rear on the FS2-sp ... I say believe as that is the info I have not because I've handled the new kits (hopefully FS2-sp very soon though) |

Ah I see, I mis read your post a few times, so kit springs are not x-gear, but on the fs2 sp they are equivalent to yellow front /red rear and on rb5 wc equiv to pink front / red rear? That makes sense too looking at the parts list, thanks - for some reason I have gold as the kit rear springs on the fs2 sp Last edited by Ted Maul; 06-12-2011 at 03:10 PM. Reason: Speelin |
