Thats brilliant help thankyou I normally run the Xray 808 Nitro but I picked up a Second hand 808 in need of a rebuild so thought I would convert it and give Electric 1/8th a bash. I run 1/10 Electric off road too. As for the Battery life, well, at Fairlop rc the finals are 20 mins and there is only 1 Electric buggy there who struggles to last the finals. However, I have read that for the 4 National meetings they are going to shorten the finals to cater for the battery life. So it is only fairlop rc that may be a problem but after reading your advise I now think I know what to do... Be a captain slow for a while lol. Just hope I can remember that when I have 5 or so crazy fast draiver up my rear end lol.
Anyway thankyou again for your help and advise, It is very much appreciated.

Mark

So what are the numbers looking like for this at the moment?
Me and 2 friends may well be interested in running in the Elec buggy.
I would like to run my electric truggy as well but am still unsure if thats possible due to confussion over whether they are running with the elec buggies or nitro truggies or their own? if on there own or with the nitro I will run that aswell.

There seems to be plenty of ebuggys booked in. I cant see the etruggys running with them, they will be in with the nitro truggys.

Thumbs up Spaces for 6th May E-Buggy National

Does anybody know if there are spaces available for the 1/8th brushless buggy national series this weekend?
I've wangled the weekend off and fancy running my Losi against other brushless buggys..

Thanks
Paul

If you didn't go to the national yesterday then you missed out on an awesome day! some excellent racing from some of the countries top 10th buggy and nitro buggy drivers! To see full heats of these cars blasting round the track was at first a bit wierd but it was great to see them racing closely and all without the need for pitmen!

If you have an electric8th scale and want to race it properly then get it dusted off and book in to the rest of the series. And don't worry if it's not a top end pro kit! HPI took two RTR's and both made the A final!

You should come and have a go Yardy.

15min finals on sunday, 5000mah cells - B final (dry) took 5023 out and the A final (half wet) 4496. So it was an 'only just'er for the B but looks like I could've pushed a lot harder in the A.

Not sure.
It did seem close. Being in there it was difficult to keep track, but the top three all lapped me pretty much together. but then on the last lap there was lots of cheering etc. from trackside so not sure if someone had water in electrics or if someone was dumping, but something was happening.

A great day and lots of fun. Well worth a go if you have an EL-8.

The 1/8 Rally X cars are limited to 4s, there's no restrictions to motor or battery make this year. Next year there will probably a list of battery's, not sure on motors.

1/8 truggy has no limitations

If you look in the post above at the times and mah usage I got out of a pack of 5000's, that was with a 2200kv motor. So I think that is the limit on the lowest mah to use. 15 min finals were just about do-able.

Battery wise, I think its pretty much a 'community' thing to go with hardcase LiPo's as nothing is set in stone this year as it is an experimental year so to speak.

Just a quick update on the national series.

The series is currently being led by Ben Cosgrove running an HPI Trophy RTR. HPI got a great RTR 1-2-3 last time out at deerdale.

http://www.deerdaleoffroad.com/BRCA_...er3/series.htm

I wasn't expecting my 5000 cells to last on the astroturf but surprisingly it took less out than the dirt tracks and 15 mins was achieved easily.

Its good to see such a mixture of cars on track and the results just go to show that you don't need a mega-bucks pro race chassis to compete at the front.

We run the standard HPI RTR Flux systems that come in the kits and I currently run some £40 5000mah Turnigy cells. So if anyone is a little bit unsure of wether to compete in this series next year, don't worry. The 8th nationals can be done on a budget competetively.

Hopefully next year will see larger numbers and more works drivers showing intrest.

There's one more round to go which is a re-run of the cancelled Coventry round which is on the 30th sept. So if you have an elec 8th and want to race it, get booked in or if you don't have one, come and have a look and see what you're missing.
