Yes that's the dreaded part. Darn it.I never broke one of these when I used to run my zx.
Pretty frustrating

You could drill through the tower mount section in the middle and put a cf plate bolting to the two holes already designed into the side of the mount and the tower section on both sides should be sufficient to do the job. I hope i make sense

Lazer ZX-RR has to go
I am moving abroad which means I'm going to have to sell most of my car collection, including my Lazer ZX-RR. I thought I would check first here to see if anyone was interested before putting it on the For Sale section as I want it to go to a good home.
It was my runner from the mid 90's and is in 'as run' condition. It was always my plan to make it a shelf queen, but unfortunately this hasn't happened. The car is complete except for battery straps, and it has some surface rust on the steel parts and it comes complete with original ZX-R manual and ZX-RR supplement. The original owner did a poor job on the battery strap mountings, so for a shelf queen the main chassis would need attention. I have attached some images of the car, excuse the duvet cover! If anyone is interested or would like more info then PM me or email me on ben.yager@hotmail.com . Cheers, Ben |

Here is how I done it, basically just glued carbon angle with PU-based plastic adhesive. Underside has also carbon doubler glued in place.
I think glueing is acceptable way here since part was already broken Only problem was to find carbon part with tight enough radius, but I was lucky to find some with 1mm radius lying around! Still need to replace those lower bind screws to normal ones, they are bottoming in radius area. Using those extra holes needs molding, as you said. That makes things more complicated.. Other pic shows my progress with ZX-RR. I have all the parts now, so it´s quite straight-forward to assemble everything. Modelling motor plate atm, that´s why it´s missing! |

I know someone here has the HPI chassis so may be worth while buying the hpi wheels just posted in the vintage for sale section.

Yes a tad, ive got a few projects on the go at once but do intend on rrsolving the knuckles by using a 3d print, need to countersink the inner holes and then use nyloc nuts on the castor block to stop them coming off. Also making a 4wd B2

Help me id these Lazers
Hi there, I'm hoping that you people with more lazer knowledge than me could help me id these buggies. I'm pretty sure the first one with the white HPI wheels is a ZXR, as that's mine from years back.
The second one, with the yellow wheels and teamline hubs; was an ebay find. Not sure if its a ZXR or ZXR Mk2. Thanks for looking, Colin

Colin,
Your one may have been a zxr mk1with the two slipper pads but unsure as the slipper may have been replaced like most did when the ZX got replaced. Still nice. The one with bluey green dyed gearbox which is an MMS version and could be the same for the motor mount and with the circular tower made the front end the strongest out there, I had a head on impact with Dave Belsten who drove a YZ10 with those massive wishbones and I snapped his wishbone and shock tower but only got a scratch on my front end. I think yours is a mk2 but with the twin slipper pad slipper and not the hyper clutch the chassis, top deck are from fibrelyte so doesnt help when a lot of people bought them as they were cheaper but stronger. Nice find.

Thanks for that, clears things up a little.
I thought the front gearbox may have been a teamline part, as the colour is almost identical to the castor blocks. The intention at the moment is to tidy mine (ZXR Mk1) up and keep as a shelfer, and to turn the Mk2 into something i could run again; possibly in an iconic race. I'd like to go down the route of the fibrelyte carbon tub, as i always wanted one when younger. Is there anything in particular i need to know when it comes to ordering one? Colin
