What type of racing ?? for motorcycles see below

L gr1450 is a size thing ? is it a size large by any chance ! Lgr large 1450 is the weight

HELMET RATINGS...WHAT DO THEY MEAN? Auto racing helmets are rated by Snell as either SA, M, or K...
Snell SA Rated Helmets:
Snell "SA" (Sports Application) rated professional helmets are designed for auto racing and provide extreme impact resistance and higher fire protection.
Snell M Rated Helmets:
Snell "M" (Motorcycle) rated helmets are designed for motorcycling and other motorsports. They offer slightly less protection than SA rated helmets.
Snell K Rated Helmets:
Snell "K" (Karting) rated helmets are designed for Karting applications. They are subjected to the same test standards as SA helmets except the do not require a fire retardant interior.
What are the key differences between SA and M Rated Helmets:
- SA standard requires flammability test while the M standard does not.
- SA standard has rollbar impact test while M standard does not.
- SA standard allows narrower visual field than M standard (Some SA helmets aren't street legal).

Latest ECER22-05 standard
Full ACU Gold Standard

for car racing im sure the club will have the details

hope it helps

Spot on. L is for large, 1450 is the wieght in grams. 1450 is the average wieght for something like a Shoei, Arai or top end helmet.
A cheaper Polycarbonate (plastic) helmet is usually between 1500-1750 grams

get on the MSA website and get yourself a copy of the 'blue book' the motorsports bible, for legit banger racing you will probly need an MSA licence. wont be much for oval stuff but you will get a blue book with your licence, well worth doing if your goin to get into motorsport....good luck, make sure you got a GOOD lid your gonna need it....LOL

Sorry to go off topic slightly, but.......
If anyone knows were they can get hold of a Blue 'Peltor' helmet bag could they let me know, as they've changed to back now, and that won't match my helmet
Cheers
Ryan

Those ratings are the minimum safety standards your helmet must meet to be legal and get through scrutineering. It must match one of them. i.e. snell 2005 or 2 BS6658 - 85 Type A FR.

There will be a sticker inside if it does, so you can check. You'd also know as you'd have bought it from a place that sells track/racing helmets. Pikey karting/bike helmets aren't up to the job and are not fire resistant which is mandatory.

Do you not need your ARDS race license to do this race?!?! To pass the exam you'd already know these things. You'll also need fireproof race suit/boots/underwear etc.

To find this number you need to take out the padding on the inside.
