Good deal????
What do the camera gurus think of this?
http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/162...mm-Lenses.html the camera gets good write ups and i want a good alround lens to go with the body for general photography. Honest opinions please but i dont want a xxx cr vs B4 debate or oven a mac vs PC debate. cheers Lee |

it's not the size, it's what you do with it....

Lee, the camera is a superb bit of kit, those lenses less so but together they cover a decent range and are plenty good enough to get you going. Be aware you'll actually have to get off your arse and learn a bit about photography as it doesn't have the hand-holding modes (sport, landscape, portrait etc) of rival models.
I use the older model K10, haven't yet been able to justify the cost of upgrading to the K20, which has dropped in price literally today! Might be tempted to do the Pentax 18-55 and Tamron 70-300 kit instead at £100 less if it were my money though... Check my posts in various threads on here or the website in my sig to see what Pentax gear can do. |

Cheers pete,
I was actually looking at the K10 but a lot of the shops said it was discontinued, and while it is still an awesome camera i just thought i had better play safe. I have seen some of your work Pete, you are a lucky boy I will be asking for tips though and i need to find an idiots guide to photography, i dont mind doing a bit of learning i think its more satisfying when you get a good photo than using a point and shoot |

Lee, the K20 is much better than the K10 at higher ISOs which will help you get the most out of the 'slower' kit lenses in all conditions and negate many of their disadvantages. I'm sure there have also been other tweaks/improvements to autofocus, metering etc but have refrained from handling one thus far to keep my credit card safe from harm!
Lots of general photography help available here, plus I can probably answer any Pentax-specific questions you may have. One other thing - SRS are beyond excellent, have used them quite a bit. |

Nothing wrong with that camera the lenses might not be amazing pieces of optical brilliance but you dont really need that when starting out as the extra range would probably be more of a us to you for you to decide if/when you want to buy some expensive glass what focal lengths you would like.

liking these photos pete. i am interested in photography but would never be able to afford these kind of cameras. god its the stuff i dream about. but where should i start ? whats a decent camera at a very low price? i wish i could produce those amazing rich colour sharp images like you have pete.
also how do you do the traffic headlights and tailights streaming through the photo with no cars?

Taken in the dark/at night with a long exposure so only the headlights and taillights are picked up by the camera sensor.

Alex, a £15 35mm film SLR from Ebay will take images equal to or better than anything I've posted so don't get hung up on equipment. Just try and find something with some manual modes to give you a little creative control and you're away... |

I'm sure you'll be able to find a digital SLR for 150 quid or so 2nd hand with lens etc. Certainly a bigger fancier camera doesn't take better photos! - if you don't use it properly it will just make higher resolution sharper crap photos.
Certainly you can afford it |
