Default 15th August Summer Social event- Updated Final Details..

Ok so after having quite a fun and productive evening at the track last night I was wondering if we should/could do some sort of social event down at the track one evening?

I'm sure between us we could muster a big BBQ or a range of small ones, we could bring along families perhaps do a bit of track maintenance or maybe have a few fun/novelty races??

I'd be happy to try and organise soemthing if anyone would be up for it.

What does everyone think?

Sounds like a good idea to me
During the week I can get to the track by about 6pm evenings vary from week to week as to when I would be free so don't have a favourite.

Guess we could always try a BBQ on a saturday / sunday with a couple of large disposable bbq's and people just ring what they want to cook on it?

I was thinking that doing it on a week night might make it easier for people. Last night we were still there at 9 and it was fine.

I thought maybe a couple of novelty races like a vintage race or maybe a "run what you brung" event for any and every car...

I'm guessing someone must have a big BBQ or can get hold of one. I can defo get my hands on a normal sized one.

yh it was great yesterday! we will probally be able to come but doubt we can bring a BBQ down + dad has an old sandstorcher or something like that never been used so maybe he would be able to do that, i will be bring my car too! but i thought it would be better on a raceday so we stay down for a day of racing + the BBQ, so maybe more people will come down for more racing

Ok so perhaps the next stage is to have a think about some dates and then see if anyone if free/up for it.

Here are 4 potential dates to get us started. If you can attend on a date and would lile to post on here and if there are enough people I will get something organised.

So
Tuesday August 14th
Wednesday Augsut 15th
Thuesday August 21st
Wednesday August 22nd

One thing to consider is the hours of daylight. It looks like the first two dates sunset is about 8:30 the later dates it's 8:10...

So after talking to people at the race yesterdqay sounds like this is a good plan. So I am suggesting we aim for Wednesday the 15th meeting at 6-6:30 (ish)

The plan is to have a BBQ (Shaun has kindly offered to bring his big Gas one) and maybe a few light hearted races.

I had thought of three options if there would be interest
1. Vintage
2. Team relay race
3. Run what you brung- Open to all and every car.

Would anyone be interested in entering any of these??

I'll come along too, hopefully my ESC will be fixed by then!!

Team relay or run what you bring sounds good to me. Would be good to get some of the leisure/bashers up there to, I'll whizz an email out to everyone I have contact details for.

I assume we'll bring our own meat and drink or are you thinking about charging a small fee and a volunteer sorts out that side of things?

count me in...

My Cat 2000 is now ready to race so any vintage race would be great! The 15th works for me!

Need to pay my membership fee next time I come down but would love to get some track practice in prior to the meeting. Can I meet up with someone soon to pay fee so I can practice on the track?

Jonny

Awesome.. Well I will be bringing the Monster Beetle down for a spin around. I might bring the XLT along too but that won't be getting dirty (proper shelf queen).

Sounds like we could have a good turn out, does anyone have an email address for Mother Nature? If so I'll ping her a note asking to make sure the weather is good...

Hi All.

So we are just over a week away from our social event and I thought it might be worth a few more details.

First of all the food situation! Shaun has kindly offered to bring his large gas BBQ along and I have bought a big (ish) coal fired one. We will set both of these up early in the evening and then it’s up to you to cook/burn/cremate your own food. I think it makes sense that everyone just brings along what they want to eat. I had considered buying/organising a load of meat but with the weather it just seems to risky and I really don’t want to be held responsible when someone chokes on a sausage that has been turned to charcoal.

I really hope that everyone can bring families, partners wives and children along as I think it will make for a fun night and they will make useful marshals… lol

I think that some fun racing would be a nice idea and as I said before I am thinking of three- a team relay race, a vintage race and a free for all “run what you bring”. Here are my plans for the three races

Race 1- Relay
3 people per team
On the grass track
Minimum of 2 cars per team (so two drivers can use the same car if you trust you batteries that much)
Each driver to do 8 laps
1 member of each team must marshal at all time
Each team to contain mixed abilities

Race 2- Vintage
Held of the grass track
2 second delayed start for every year your car is newer than the oldest car on the day
2 second delayed start for every ‘non original’ component (ie ESC, brushless motor, lipo)
2 second delay for being too good at driving
10 lap race

Race 3- Run what you brung
Run for 10 laps of the large circuit on the dirt track
Staggered start for the following 4 groups
Group A- Anything smaller than 10th and any “fun/RTR” cars
Group B- 2wd 10th scale
Group C- 4wd electric buggies
Group D- Nitro buggies and Truggies

There could be cars that turn up for the ‘free for all race’ that don’t fit in these catergories but we can add these as we see fit. As the organiser I also retain the right to move you to a different group if your driving is too good… (Jonathan I am thinking of you with this one!!)

In an ideal world I would like to get this all sorted before the day as we will be tight for time so if you would like to enter any/all of these races can you please let me know which, what you will be running and for vintage the details of your car. If you would like to run in the relay let me know and I will sort teams the best I can based on my knowledge of peoples driving but I might need some help with this. Can you please email me ASAP so I can get planning. For those of you who don’t know my job involved lots of project management so I can help but need a plan and checklist for this type of thing!! My email address is maxsiliprandi@gmail.com.

I am really looking forward to seeing you all

Max

Oh and I forgot to say that while this isn't an official race event I suggest that all those driving make a contribution to the club to help expand the coffers a little! I was thinking that each 'driver' make a £5 donation to the club if that sounds ok with everyone?
