Default Gearing dex210

Guys

Running a dex210 on astro with a speed passion reventon pro and sp 7.5 motor. Ran great all night but cut out at the end of the last race and motor seemed v.hot. Left for 5 mins and run again ok as a test

I am running 81spur and 26 pinion, wondered what you guys run and whether I am over gearing perhaps. All settings are standard on esc new from box

Help welcomed as normal

26/81 is probably a bit too tall, I would start with a 22t pinion and work your way from there.

Does sound rather a tall gear, i'm running 22 or 23 with a 78 spur at the moment on a fairly boosted 8.5.

Also, check the firmware in the Rev Pro is the latest, the thermal (and LVC) on the earlier firmware was very aggressive. (A couple of fast laps would see one or other cutting in!!)

Also, do you have a IR temp probe? Makes it far easier to say if the motor is too hot, or not (i suspect it probably is in this case!)

I normally run the SP 7.5 motor on 23 or 24 / 81.
The motor timing on the end bell is around 5 degrees, but 10 is fine on both gearings.

I also have my ESC on DDRS level 2 or 3 with the timing @26.25.

I never run any boost or turbo settings on the ESC, it seems to make the power band way too aggressive and unpredictable for jumping.

Turn off the thermal protection, you shouldn't really be getting near this outdoors, even after 10mins or so of running.

Just give your transmission a quick check over to make sure its free before you go out again... Might be as simple as a seized bearing.
