Default XX4/X5 E-speed steering option.

How does this fit on?

I cannot get it to fit without it rubbing on some other part of the car. I've looked on here through the national pictures and so on of XX4/X5 cars with it on but when I try and copy the way it looks like they have fitted mine just wont fit on freely.

Any Ideas? Even better if there is someone heading to the BWOC @ Hereford tomorrow that can guide me through the process it would be much appreciated.

I have had to grind away a little of the chassis and also put a chamfer on the bottom of the leading edge of the steering link to make mine fit freely on a XX4.

I filed the plain bearings down a bit but then the thread on the screw fouls on the underside of the front belt tunnel so then the screw needs filing a bit. There is a picture guide to doing this somewhere, I'll try and find it.

I dremeld the chassie. Hasn't broke yet. Used a short ballstud on the rack and 2 washers outside to handle the bumpsteer.

But, do you notice any major differens compared to the old steering? I think it ran about the same as the old one in outside hole on the bellrank. Or, it could be just my driving style so I don't feel it. Maybe a bit more outsteering...?
