Ansmann Macnum mid conversion
hi people, i bought a macnum just as a bit of fun, and to try some mods,
after running the truck a couple of times i have found the truck to be able to wheely far to easily, and the only truck to beat me on that day was a X60 due to the fact it had a better drive out the corners. so i went and bought another macnum as they are nice and cheap and hear is what ive done so far first of all i have made a carbon t plate. as the std one is very weak i then started to trim the chassis to take the gearbox the other way round. i then started to trim the other side away and found that i have to remove alot of plastic, so that only 2 of the screws holding the t plate can be used. as you can see hear. due to this little problem i am going to make a wrap around brace to go arround the motor and bot to the chassis. to put strenth back into it their. so you get an idea i am thinking of making a brace over the motor and going down the the chassis eather side of the battery slot. i have a few more bits to fabricate and looking at making a rear hinge pin hanger / shock tower mount to the back of the gearbox. |

Does the Macnum share alot of the same parts as the Madrat, same as the T4 and B4? |

If you raise the gearbox slightly you can use all 4 t-plate screws

i did look at that option tom, but you would have th lift it up by 5mm.
and i wanted to keep the c of g as low as posible. the backend is the same as the madrat. |

ive done a bit more work this morning and this is the current progress.
as you can see in the pic ive made a small brace that wraps arround the back of the motor. as you can see in this pic you can see a kyosho hing pin hanger to mount the rear wish bones i will be using a alloy one eventually, i am also usint one of these as they are alot stronger that the std macnum one. here you can see the rear shock tower mount and fitted, i will be making a brace that goes between them and this should give the strenth for the shock tower. |

I did the same with my T3 truck. I also swapped the side of the transmission that the spur was mounted so my motors ran the same way as before, but at the moment my motor is rotating in the opposite direction to the wheels which isn't good right now.
Need to get a 4 gear transmission in there to solve that one. |

nice work . i would love to do that to my buggy. but it looks like you made some carbon bits and a brace for the chassis at the rear of the car.could you make a carbon t plate for me i will pay you what it cost and the time as well plz will you get back to me about it . nice work mate keep the pictures coming

OMG where do I get the 48DP cog!?!
hrmmm. thinking about it if I used the same size pinion as before I wouldn't change the drive ratio... |

Its a standard idler gear from a xxx-cr gearbox, ive done the same thing to my cr2 and its as simple as it looks!

The gear used is a standard B4/XXX internal idler gear, which are both 48dp.
You could also use CAT SX gears as these are 48dp too and would allow for various different sizes to suit your requirements. I'm pretty sure the B4 & XXX idlers are a slightly different number of teeth, so you could use these to give different ratio's. You have to bare in mind that the distance between the motor securing screw and the motor output shaft is a fixed distance, so pinions/ratios are limited. |

ooo I have a spare B4 idler in my box after me and Wezzer installed the SC10 diffs the wrong way and murdered the originals...

how do you actually install it though? im guessing the bearings dont just sit on the screw??

The idler bearing is 1/8 x 3/8".
1/8" = 3.175mm; motors use an M3 thread so I assume the bearing does just sit on the screw. Disclaimer: this is just a guess on my part!

can't seem to get it working in my T3. 87 spur seems too big to get both meshing right. will try a 84 tomorrow.
screw through the bearing. a couple of those mega thin washers you use on the drive shafts to space it out |
