Default Tamiya Durga DB01 EP Buggy (A cheaper 501X?)

This might interest people interested in the 501X but not the price tag!:

http://www.redrc.net/2007/09/tamiya-...ggy/#more-5540

No blue alloy or carbon fibre, and not in the same 'league' as the TRF 501X, but im sure this will be reflected in the price! What do you guys reckon?

Hello.

I think that the layout of this car is more similar to the Losi XXX4 than to the TRF 501X. Anyway I like that Tamiya offer this kind of "medium level" cars. I supose that there is a lot of people like me, that just take part at club races and don't need to spend a lot of money in high end cars.
I also think that is very soon and we don't know the real specifications of this car, I mean for example, is going to use sleeper or not?, etc. Let's wait.

Bye.

The body looks like it could be quite cool, and the suspension is proven for sure. If the shocks are the same as the DF03 etc then they are certainly pretty poor, but this car should be pretty cheap compared to the 501X so I'm all for it - in fact, I might even buy one.

To me it looks like they have transplanted a TA05 drivetrain onto a buggy chassis and possibly used 501X wishbones. At a guess this car is going to be under the £150 mark easily. Shocks can be changed, the only concern I got is whether a slipper unit is either fitted or can be fitted.

I think it looks cool!

If the cars long enough and has a slipper like you say, it should be a massive success - in Japan, where they use stick packs a lot. Over here, maybe it will even get imported!

Doesn't have a slipper as standard but a slipper, front one way and universals are all listed as option parts.

RRP in Japan is around £100, I would expect it to be available in the UK around £125.

I think that if finally use sleeper is quite possible that I bought one. Just to try it. I'm sure that at the end, at Hong Kong shops it will be around 130$, no more.

Nah, it looks nasty. I prefer the 501x.

I'm not so sure, i think with a nice selection of paints it could look pretty slick. The motor cooling bulges and sleek lines are cool. It's due to be released in Japan in November. At 22,800 Yen it comes to £98!!

I totally agree... I race rallycross, but i am thinking of trying out 4wd electric as there is a small class at my local club, and all the Oople reviews have only fueled my interest. The price of this kit, and the spec make it perfect for a first 4wd buggy i think.

the shell is typical Tamiya drug fuelled design, the colours used are just yuk....

Think I might have to get me one of these though!!

That body looks sweet. If only there is an undertray to go with it. Then it would be straight into my 501x.

Some more pics of the car. These are Satoshi Maezumi's car from a recent Japanese race meet.
