Orion motor trouble
Just had my second Orion motor strip the threads in the can to mount it to the car. Will not be buying them again.

Interestingly I've had this happen with a Speed Passion motor a few years back but all of my Orion's have been perfect. I always use a manual driver and never tighten them down excessively as I don't want to dent the mounting plates so maybe your just trying to put too much torque on the screws?

Also make sure there is a decent amount of thread engagement, I make sure the screws engage in all the threads in the motor and slightly protruding, this might require you to make custom length screws.

You will get people say they love Orion and others may say different.
I personally don't think user error is common but some pointers for all using Orion motors. Please note the 4 holes are are different paired widths across the can and some (without knowing) use the wrong holes across the can and that can cause problems. If you look at your can you will see what i mean I put my hand up and admit I made this error some 4 years ago when I started to drive for Orion but never had one go since. i also recommend the Kyosho motor screws - they are excellent for gripping the motor plate and don't need to be overtightened in fear of the motor moving. Hope that helps a little

You may not love your Orion motors anymore but you have to love Kyosho UK's customer service! Truly Awesome!

Orion motor
I hear all the points raised and take them on board, I am an engineer and nuts and bolts are my game I have to deal with these problems every day. Both times the thread stripped it gave no warning of pending doom, compairing the threads with other makes of motors that I have on the Orion you can wiggle the screw an enormous amount compared to other makes. This wobble I was told was within tolerance ? After the first problem I have taken extream care to make shire this did not happen again yet it has. I would send the motor back but as the line of within tolerance has already been used I am going to helicoil this thread to try and improve the thread fit.
