Default Serpent spyder mid

Has anyone run the Spyder mid on medium/ high grip carpet yet?
Just wondering what it handles like steering wise & what tyres you've been running? I'm quite fancying one tbh but don't want another Bmax2 where I couldn't seen to get to hook up like my RB6.
Let me know what you think guys

Cheers in advance

Hi I run the Spyder mid only done two meetings with it. Last time out was on a rubber type floor at Worksop med grip on schumacher mini pins. As I'm getting used to the car been playing around with set up.
Found that the car is good on 3 degrees rear toe in 2 degrees anti squat and front castor of 27.5 degrees.
I'm still playing around but find the car very easy to drive and believe it will be very competitive car. Looking forward though to getting outdoors with it.

That could apply to all the cars now as they all seem to look alike just about now.

Hi Jon
It was your car at Worksop that made me fancy one tbh! Looked really good, looking at the geometry the steering Is way more forward than the Yoke, very similar to the RB6. So if it has the steering of the a kyosho I'd be really interested! Has your dad got any left in stock? Might come & fetch one!

No no, if you look at photos of the Serpent, it's very much a B-max including the geometry! It's actually very difficult to tell them apart except the Serpent has nice bits as standard.

I even commented to Serpent on the release, isn't this just a B-max?! They're response was.... but ours has nice bits on... which says it all really I probably wouldn't recommend investing in a Serpent if there was certain things you didn't like in your B-max.

Front and rear of the Serpent, really similar to say the lease!

Ran mine today at Coventry, MAM round on the astro track.
1st race meeting with the car, all kit parts.
Track was slippy to start with but dried up through the rounds. I have not raced 2wd since last September I think, and it felt great straight away. Only had one set of tyres, which were not right in either condition slippy or dry, changed very little due to time so need to play about with it some more.
Pace wise, very surprised, 8th in round for the first two rounds and 11th overall, and finished there for the day.
Ended up in front of drivers I could not beat last year, so very, very happy.
I ran a Yoko last year, great buggy, but I feel the serpent is as easy to drive but more nimble in tight sections and quicker for me.
Really enjoyed racing it today

Front geometry looks a bit different, with that huge kick in the wishbones and hub hinge pin height

I ran my mates car in my final in Friday. had not long been built, pretty much box setup, and it felt excellent to drive. I was very impressed. think the damping was a bit heavy, but he was going to sort that out. otherwise its an excellent car to drive, feels very good quality and if I was in the market for a new 2wd car, I'd get one for sure.

Default Serpent

That's good to hear Neil, what surface & what front tyres where you running?
& how does it compare to your Bmax2 (if your still running it?)
I could never get my Bmax aggressive enough on the front?

I don't know how similar they are, but does anyone know if those towers will fit the Yokomo B-max?! Looks very close to me!

Ran my car for first time out doors last sunday at the excellent and newly resurfaced RHR astro track.

Got to say the Spyder is a good car to drive on high grip (good car numpty driver lol).

Its very forgiving and after some set up changes handled very well.

Will stick a set sheet on later. Im not saying this is the best set up or that everyone should use it but it seemed a good one for me.
