Default Why can't I reply to a 'For Sale Ad?

Probably a dumb question but why can't I reply to a sales ad?

Cheers

Shane

You have to send the message or question directly to the seller. In the past there have been bidding wars and all sorts going on.....

I can set it to not bump threads in that forum - so the replies wont effect things. But theres also the problem of people spoiling threads - coming in and posting that the price is too high or you can get it elsewhere cheaper which isn't really on.

If people want replies (without bumping) then I'll happily change it - I guess we'd need a vote?

I did prefer when you could ask questions. I understand why it was changed, but sometimes a seller would leave out an important bit of info and the first poster would ask the question for all to see the answer.

Default Jimmy

I like it as it is. I think its a great idea not having replies on threads. Keeps it simpler with less tittle tattle going on. "Heres the price - you want it, email me" is a good system and better than many forum sale threads.

I have sold three things in 2 weeks with minimal fuss or discussion due to its simplicity so I vote to keep it how it is without replies.

I guess if someone asks a question and it's useful information then the seller can add it?
Some people just want to have no fuss though and having to check back on your threads to see if there are questions could be a bit more work?
I do like to see useful replies sometimes personally speaking - but sellers might not.

"Oy, you! Leave iiiiiit"

+1 to leave it just as it is now, it works OK. Like you say Jimmy, if the original poster thinks a question they've been asked by PM is pertinent they can always edit the post no?

Default Good point

Good point Jimmy - but when I have had a couple of questions I thought were good, I have then edited my posts to include this information for others to benefit from.

You will always get some random questions but having them by PM means you get notifications and external emails so is therefore faster to respond to customers, rather than having to keep checking your thread countless times a day on the off chance.

I think its good to ask questions, even better it doesn't bump the add.

What about if i ask a question and PM the seller, he replies to me but yet i don't buy the item for what ever reason. Some one reading the reply in the thread may buy the items because they have read the reply.

If people start posting stupid replys, then they get deleted by a Mod,simples

Personally, if the ad does not state price or include pics, as a moderator I would simply draw a line under the whole deal remove it!

More infuriating are links to ebay auctions!!!!
