Default Suggestions ???

Having just competed in my first 2wd national ( and wet ) event and having a great days racing despite the conditions i have a few ideas and questions on the formation of the heat grids for national rounds.
How are they done ?
I would like suggest, where there is more than one qualifying grid for a class. 1, a practice run and then drivers seeded accordingly. 2, an open draw, or 3, another way would be to be gridded in your heat on receipt of entry that might also have the effect of encouraging earlier entries.
I would also say thanks to all who competed on the day and the committee for doing a great job in the conditions running a successful event.

Seeding for the 1st National Round should be done using the results from the previous year. As your class is new for 2011 we dont have rankings to go by. So for Round 2 what should happens is drivers are seeded/rank based on the results from round 1 and you will be seeded accordingly for the second National meeting. Heats the next day are sorted using rankings to sort you in your heat.

Hi Ivan,
Yeah, you were held up all day in the slow heat fair play to you for not loosing your rag over it. I know within the DMCC we are addressing this problem with the introduction of the seeding system last year and constant scrutiny of it so that it can be improved/developed as the club grows.

The nature of the RCCAOI is not as progressive, partially because up to this year they only ran 2 events a year (6 this year) meaning that motivation to develope the rule book is low, and partially because up to this year the events were only a formality to decide who was going to the euros/worlds - there was no clubman class previously.

If I was involved in the RCCAOI, and I won't be until my (and current committee's) plan for the rebirth of the DMCC is complete, I would introduce several rulings to advance level of competition in the championship....

1. Euros and Worlds places should be limited to F1 and F2 drivers as per the DMCC rulebook. This means that top drivers will have to put together a minimum of a 2-year plan to qualify for these meetings. And means that we can invite UK/Euro drivers to the event without the risk of it being "hijacked".

2. All drivers should be given an ability grading in their class based on results from thier club championship meetings. Winner 100pts, 2nd 99pts etc etc - this means that all RCCAOI heats can be seeded without prior participation in the championship in previous years. (And will sort your problem)

4. The RCCAOI should introduce a clubman class in each section - 1/8th, 1/10th, onroad, offroad - and then select a "Novice of the Year" with a big hoo-haa and fanfair - maybe sponsor a trip away for him.... this will show that we are proactive in Ireland and not awaiting instructions from the mothership (BRCA/EFRA) - as has been the case for the last 30 years.....

Just some thoughts

They should be up later in the week. There is a backlog of updates due and I hope to get them all done this week. Will you be down on Sunday?
