Hi,

I have already opened a topic for my questions, but then saw tha one!

I am pretty new to this whole RC racing stuff and just got my Tekin RS Pro I am using it in an Associated B4.1 together with a Viper 7,5t brushless, sensored motor.

Now I am setting it up with Hotwire via USB.

2 questions:

-Do you think it makes more sense to use the dual drive or sensored mode?

- In dual drive mode I can choose Timing Advantage, Start- End RPM. I do not know which values to enter. The motor has 4400kV... What do you think could be a good starting point?

Thank you for your offer, I will see if I can make to your club, I live in Bristol (a dead zone for rc) but caldicot is the nearest off road club, who am I asking for if I can get there?

7.5's are my "break over" point with dual mode and sensored mode. If the track has the grip and I can put the power down I'll run sensored mode with very little if any esc timing. If the traction is low I'll run dual mode with 80-100 timing advance.

Hi Randy,

Thank you very much! Actually the traction is VERY low at the track!
So you recommend to go in dual mode? Maybe I should mention that the motor has 7,5t but only has 4400kv. Does this change anything in your approach?

Which RPM should I choose then? Or is this not relevant?

Which gear ration should I take? Currently I have 84 and 23 pinion.

Thank you very much!

Dual mode has a different feel to it than sensored only mode. You really should simply give both of them a try on a test day. Gearing will vary on the layout but if you're running a 9.5 in dual mode with 90 timing advance I'd run an 81/24-25 pretty easily if not taller.

Leave the rpm' alone for now. Those are the defaults for a reason. I tested for a few days with data logging in various cars and for offroad those are the "standard" and I rarely find a reason to change them.

Hello Randy

I have a rather strange Question to ask please.

I'm Running a Tekin RS Pro with a Brushed 540.
Everything works Great ! Except for this and I'm
trying to work out where the problem might be, or maybe you have herd of this before.

If I apply full throttle ( fast as lightening ) the engine will not go.
But If I apply just a smaller of a fraction slower (Trigger squeeze) it will work fine.

I have Tried with new Engine, Same results. Is this some flaw with
the software? or something.

Any help or ideas appreciated, as I have been left on the starting Grid a few time now.

Thanks

Hmm, do me a favor and try putting 212 into the esc, rather than 223.

I didn't test 223 in brushed mode.

Do the lights respond properly in relation to the trigger pull? In other words when you snap throttle do the led's show that?

You can try it but we don't recommend it. 6.5 on turf is a decent load and you may thermal the unit. It won't blow it mind you, just thermal it and shut off. A 2nd power cap can help with temps.

I'm trying to smooth the power delivery of my RS Pro.

i've set the minimum throttle at 3, throttle profile 3 with current limiter at 70%

My question is, will reducing the current limiter further help make things smoother (currently using a 7.5 redline) ?

Yes it will, I run my 2wd as low as 75% and 4wd 80% if I need to smooth the kick out.

I never go above 90% on either.

Cheers
Kev

Hello Randy

I finally received the Hotwire and hooked everything up.
Not sure what software was installed from factory, so when
it finally displayed on the pc screen, I updated to 2.23 and all works fine.

Thanks
