Thanks for the comments guys - hope you all enjoyed it. The bomb hole is actually really well drained and drys out very quickly. Areas of the track did rut up quite badly unfortunately (because I've now got to repair it!) I'm not sure what we can do in the future to stop it rutting so badly. We never wanted a perfectly smooth track, because it just feels like racing touring car with buggies. It did surprise me how many people seemed not to have run on a grass track, I noticed alot of over damped cars not coping with the bumps.
At the end of the day this is the first proper meeting that the track's had, so we now know where the problem areas are and can get them sorted.
Thanks again, it was great to watch you all racing.
Gordy

Not all of us were overdamped out of choice

Seriously though, great track, nice to have some up and down and the dusty sections as well as grass, plus really well run, thanks all involved in running it!!

And Grindog, I was pretty tempted to check for kesy in the ignition of that Ferrari too on the way out!!

really enjoyed the track, excellent features made a welcome change from our normal grass outing's....
even though i had my poorist 4wd for nearly 2 years with the new chassis, had a good day once the early problems were sorted....

thanks ledbury..

I would also like to pass on my congrats to Stan, really good performance in the last 2 legs- to go perfectly clean for 5 minutes around that track was really tough and he did it twice in the finals... and daddied me in the process during leg 2 lol that was a good move.

I apologise to everyone who may have heard my outburst after leg 3... I know I must have looked like a real childish sore loser but I was just generally frustrated at losing out by such a small amount, and only ending up 3rd in the meeting after TQing, when a leg win in that last leg would have made such a difference. Losing out was fault entirely of my own and I shouldn't have taken it out on the rostrum like I did lol . (I'm sure the battle preceeding was good to watch)

Well done to the guys at Ledbury,
Tom Y.

it was strange seeing you like that Tom , but on the other hand it also shows the passion and determination you have for winning ... its not a bad thing

Ill agree with congrats to Stan. Proved he was quick all day and in the first leg was right with me till he hit an unfortunate bump.

Think in terms of spectators that was prob one of the best regionals to watch. 3 cars close at the front is always good to watch. Good job by Ledbury, nothin to moan about and an excellent burger van!

Si

gutted i missed out on this one guys. It is the nearest track to me, and the weather was okay, with just a few showers. Not sure what you could do to get rid of the rutting problems, but filling them in and reseeding the bigger 'holes' or places with no grass should solve most of the problems. Also covering the dirt sections with astro after refilling the 'holes' would cause less problems with them cutting up. The track looked ace, good to have some bumps and undulations/height changes rather than relying on 'obstacles' in the form of man-made wooden jumps for features.

Nooooooooooooo! Dirt is good!

Keep those bombholes as dirt sections but lay the track so there is an alternative route around them that can be run for a round if they do become lakes.

I agree with Gaz, the dirt sections were great!! I've seen somewhere that if you mix a little cement dust with the top layer of dirt it makes it alot more hardwearing/not so many ruts or holes, might be worth a try

Concrete and dirt is a good mix.. It's what you'll be running on at Kiddy at the weekend...

Might need a little experimenting to get the mix right.
