Default Work Party this Saturday...RESCHEDULED...now Sat 2nd June

Hi again,

***UPDATED***

More work to be done at the track, now not this weekend, it's now going to be on Sat 2nd June, giving us chance to get more hardcore on site before we hire the digger!

Digger is coming Thursday, Si and I will be there all day Thursday doing the digger work, then the Saturday will be doing the finishing touches by hand!

Usual start time of 10am, there all day, everyone and anyone welcome

whoop whoop ... play time at WORM

If we get all the hardcore there that we need this will transform the look of the track ... and it was pretty cool before !!

Mini digger should make light work of moving the big stuff but but many hands would be useful for smoothing things off ...

so who can make it down then ?

Latest update...

We do now have hardcore on site...

www.worm-racing.co.uk/update-24th-may-2012/

...but we might not have enough there by Saturday to hire the digger for...so we might put this work party on hold, or just make it a little more low key until next weekend...more updates when we get them!

After a cracking day yesterday with the digger and around 50 tonnes of hardcore we now have a slightly remodeled track.

Its a wee bit rough atm and still needs a bit of a tidy up.

So our plan for Saturday, is to use a couple of tonnes of fine grit/sand we have left to smooth everything off. And then use the astro we have to lay a track around and over the new features.

So not as tough a day as we have had in the past, and should be fun sorting a track out.

All are welcome to come and play, bring a shovel/spade and a rake if you have them. And if you really want, maybe even a car

I'll be there from about 8.00 !!!

Hi there guys,

Just to introduce myself, I'm not a Weston local being based down in Dorset but I've spoken to Mike Manning on a few occasions regarding the track and offered my help if anyone needs a hand, he was a bit busy at the time so not sure if the message got through. Not yet a MMMRC member, will sort that when the tracks done but if anyone needs a hand then shout as it'll be 'interesting' trying to get back into 2wd electric after years of 1/8th nitro rallycross.

Cheers

Adam

Hi there,

Good to hear from you!

If it's just the offroad track your interested in then it's us you need to speak to really and not Mike, although he should be able to point you in the right direction.

Best place to check for info is via our website...

http://www.worm-racing.co.uk/

Although we are part of MMMRC, we will be doing our own memberships as well...to join MMMRC as a whole could look a little expensive, but it will give you access to both the big on road track and our offroad track. But for those just interested in the offroad section, we'll have our own smaller membership fee instead

We are still working on the details of this and as soon as we've figured it all out we'll post up the details...but essentially WORM@MMMRC club members will get access to the offroad track for practice whenever they want (with a few exceptions when big race meetings are on), and a cheaper entry to our club events...plus any other useful benefits we can come up with to make it worth joining, lol !!!

Look forward to seeing you soon anyway

When did we become part of Mendip?

(When we started working on the track...can't sub let the land as it's not allowed in MMMRC's agreement with the landlord!

Worry not Rych, it's all under control )Not what i wrote

Thanks guys, that'll make things easier to swallow if membership's lower through WORM as I'll have no use for Mendips on-road facilities, assume the website will be updated accordingly with membership details etc once all is finished. It's all your fault I went out and got an electric again after having heard about it and seen pics of the build so far

If you need a hand anytime then shout, if not catch you all when it's done!

I have mod powers in the WORM section, which means I have the edit button right next to the quote button on every post...guess my mouse pointing skills need re-calibrating after the long weekend!

Yeah we'll get our website updated once it's all decided...should have it sorted in the next month or so.

Where about's in Dorset are you from? Not near enough Weston to come over on Thursday night by any chance?

As for being to blame for getting you back into 10ths....happy to take that one on the chin

Near Bridport, although the other half lives near Taunton which is handy, not as handy as the ex who lived just off Bleadon Hill Rd though! Sadly working late tomorrow night, wouldn't be able to get there until after 6.30, assume the off-road track will have to wind down at 7pm like the on-road circuit, if you're running later than that I could do a flying visit though...

Well the plan tomorrow night is....track work!

We're basically picking up some astro from a local cricket club just round the corner at 6pm...then assuming we've got it on the truck ok we'll be dropping it at the track, cutting it down and laying it...so will be there til it's dark to be honest!

Got a bit of other general track work to do to get ready for Saturdays race so anyone who can help will be very gratefully welcomed!

Having said that...it's a fair way to come from Bridport just to do a few hours of back breaking work, with little or no track time actually possible, so we'd understand if it was too far to come!

In terms of cut off time...since we're electric only we can actually run anytime without disturbing anyone, so the onroad track curfew times don't apply!
