Pinion wont budge!!!
I tried to change my pinion last night but the bloody thing wont come off!!! I dont want to bend or damage my motor by keep leaving it off with force!
Any suggestions folks? (and yes I have taken the grub screw out ) Also tried to fit a HD servo spring but I seem to have striped the steering assembaly. Is there a special way of fitting these? Thanks Craig.

The servo savers are a bit poo to be honest, once you built it, if you take it apart its 50/50 whether its going to go back together or not.
I think I have some glue in mine and carefully put the bolt back in. might be a new servo saver needed tho ? I know you have to press really hard to get the spring compressed enough to screw it in, but if its stripped its stripped. I think you need somet called a pinion puller, I think its a little contraption of some sort. someone might have one they can bring along to a race to do your motor ? not sure. I'd stick the pinion in some pliars hanging over the edge of a desk, and put a driver over the motor shaft and belt it with a hammer! but, im jimmy :jimmeh |

To get the pinion lose, you don't necessarily have to try to knock it away from the motor ;-)
I'd hold/clamp the motor with the pinion facing up and give it a tap with a hammer, making sure the back of the motor shaft was supported and making sure I only hit the pinion. That will probably loosen it so it just falls off as normal hopefully |

Pinion puller is the best way though, it clamps round the pinion onto the back face, then a set screw tightes against the end of the shaft and pulls the pinion off slowly not damaging anything. Where are you based as I know Vermin has one so you could use it at Durham on Sunday?
