What method of qualifying is being used? Round by round with how many to count?

Cheers

Rob

Qualifying is round by round - there will be 5 rounds (4 today, 1 tomorrow) and best 3 will count.

Lee Martin was almost on for TQ but made a mistake on the last lap losing him those valuable 2 seconds.

The battery situation is made even more confusing from the fact that batteries approved with 25.4mm (IB 5400's) still have to be within 25.1mm, which is impossible, even from new. This is why people are resorting to sanding.

Rediculous situation from a rule that has no meaning or purpose.

I'm quite sure a protest could be won, but they've approved sanding, so I'm probably not gonna bother as I've already sanded them.

Is there a link to live timings somewhere that I missed? Not video feed, just the race timings for each heat as they finish?

I do find it absolutely amazing that we're allowed to sand down the cases!!

More good results for the Brits in round 2!!

Liverc has timing on it (thats where am pasting them from), check out www.ifmar2011/results which is updated quite sharpe ish.

I had a thought as well, didn't we stop having a max battery size to stop manfs from reducing the case thickness instead of cell size???

Very rare i have it right

, just can imagin my frustration if I had got my nice new lipos all the way over there, avoided them being nicked by security at the airport, then have them fail by 0.5mm, but then it's ok to sand them down so the case is paper thin, Now they will pass, but the hard case is paper thin, thus unabe to do it's job of containing the lipo should it decide to go up in a puff of smoke

on another note, good to see kinwald in the mix

This lipo situation is crazy. as said above how the hell can it be safe to sand the case down?, I can see a fire coming on......bad landing off the big jump and the paper thin casing splitting open, spilling it's vile guts all over the place.............madness

Expansion of LiPo's that have been used is entirely normal. Those applying the rules need to take this into account and should have faith in the homologation process.

Encouraging people to sand cells down is madness.

Re. sanding
As the Lipo has been altered does that mean once back in the UK those Lipo's won't be BRCA legal any more?

Hello from Finland!
About batteries, yes its a pain in the ass that loads failed because they were too big, BUT the sanding of the batteries was not officially approved.
Now there is nothing in the IFMAR rules that says you cant sand them!
So its a loophole, but Im sure the officials wouldnt be happy if they caught you doing this.

New catch phrase for the worlds from neil kojak from aussie,

"Look mate, I don't give a f**k who you are" in a thick ausse twang hehe

Dave, it's Kovács, though I think I'm stuck with Kojak.

Don't forget: "G'day gandanga doodle".

Cragg just TQ'd the early heats (round 5 running 13,14,1-12). If he holds it, then he's Worlds TQ baby!!!!!

Drivers that could effect it are most likely in Heat 12 (Kinwald & Hartson)
