mines an amb pt and sitting flat between motor and speedo, its tight, but she'll go!! No probs on the first outing mate

Looks like he has a Spektrum micro receiver sat underneath the front prop shaft (i.e. between the ESC and motor).

I think you're right about the batteries.

spektrum rx is under the centre drive shaft.

amb txponder is in car - just the lrp switch on top of it.

yep those are the 4200IP cells. they fit nicely. just a little bit of foam required down one side to stop them moving
