Hey Trev, I remember chatting to you guys, I def think motor/speedo is not the main issue, batteries is a very likely contender as you need the sudden burst of accel up the take off ramp to get the nose up to clear the jump.

I was running 65C lipos and could make it easily (distance/height wise) it was just the technique to get the car level in the air in order to make the landing.

DRAGONMOUNT - what deal have you got on those 90c Orion Lipo's??

Default Desc410 gearing / esc help needed

Hi all

I have just got a desc410 running outdoor very bumpy astro track.... Using an lrp 6.5 ( 540 ) tekin rs pro esc ... 20 t pinion with standard spur ... With no under body it's still overheating and cutting out... Towards end of a 5 min race.... I'm going to hardwire a fan on the esc to try and help.... But was after any thoughts you have on the setup?!
Cheers
Jon

As Danny just said really. You need a 4wd truck set up. That combo will always overheat.

Not all 540 kit will overheat, I ran a castle 3800 4pole with the SCT sidewinder speedo in my Slash for best part of a year with not issues at all and never maxxed it out as normally race indoor, it was geared to make 40mph and handled it no problems.

I think the biggest issue here is the speedo getting hot because the motor is drawing a lot of power through the ESC due to the weight of the car, try a smaller pinion to control temps but if you lose too much speed then you will need to start upgrading kit. Tekin kit can handle some heat, anything upto 170f is deemed OK.

I have the same ESC in a Cougar SV and even in that little light weight car it still gets mega hot running a 6T motor?
