They are 100% interchangeable but are different sizes from memory 81t b4 and 84t B44 or something similar to that, although there is every chance I've got them the wrong way around.

Hi,

The kit spur on the B4 was 81t
Kit on the B44 was 84t
Kit on the B44.1 was 81t

(Think the B4.1 comes with 81 & 78)

MiCk B. :-)

Whilst we're on the subject...

I fitted a B44.1 (81t) spur to my B44 the other night as it was the only 1 available, but left it with a 20t pinion (SP V3 6.5).
To save me cursing the world and throwing the car at the cat in disgust at my mechanical incompetence (I'd rather not change the spur again) what pinion should I be running? Only race indoor at york and outdoor at RHR

You'll want the same overall as you were running with the 84t

So 84 - 20 is 10.50 overall

With an 81t spur a 19t pinion would give 10.66 over, as close as you can get between the two spurs.

As a quick mental calculation you can normally assume that 3 teeth on the spur equates to 1 tooth on the pinion. So to keep the same approx ratio if you drop 3 on the spur then drop 1 on the pinion etc.

So the internals in the diff's are the same beween 44 and 44.1? I only ask as the motor was coming off substantially hotter after a race than it did before

Thats right gayhead the internals are the same, you need to alter your pinion size to compensate for the smaller spur.

B44 std spur is 84t
B44.1 std spur is 81t
