Hi all,

I raced these back in the day and someone at the club even had a pre-production roller! Being more used to Hotshots and Optimas this thing blew our minds at the time!

Anyways last week there was one of these racing and it brought back loads of memories, so much so that i’m Thinking of getting one but have a few questions first.

Can I run saddle lipos?
Is there a conversion to run modern hex wheels?
What is the motor limit with or without the transmission up-grade?

Thanks for reading!

Kit comes with old stickpack style nimh battery fittings and shorty lipo option
which is best solution
I think I have seen somewhere castle to 12mm hex adapter possibly shapeways?
Irun 10.5 with boost at worksop indoors on original transmission no issues so far and is plenty quick enough I have upgraded transmission just not got round to fitting it yet
buy build enjoy!!!

Dave

Thanks Dave,

Got loads of saddle lipos and hex wheels so makes sense to run these if I can?!

Seem to remember running the old saddle ‘soft’ pack batteries back in the day, no plastic cases or shrink wrap back then.....lol

There was a saddle chassis option from Schumacher back in the day.

You can get them in carbon from Fibrelyte here: http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/...er/catxls.html but you'll need to make a cradle to hold modern lipo's.

Cheers Dave and Groomi,

Seriously tempted now. Done a lot of reading up last day or so.

Would be great to race one of these again.

How do they fare against modern stuff?

I'm assuming an original Bosscat, like I used to run, would command a mega high price these days if I could find one?
Did they come with a saddle pack chassis as standard?

Cheers!

as peakey says there more than 2 versions

simplest I can do is
"sport"stick pack chassis plastic shocks non- slipper layshaft "sport" diffs partial bearing kit some bronze bushed

"team" saddle chassis (poss glassfibre) slipper clutch layshaft metal shocks pro diffs bearing kit red anodized side frames

"works" similar spec purple anodised side frames carbon chassis rest similar to "team car"

I have a sport and team cars currently my team car has upgraded carbon fibre chassis and top deck
I think those are major differences looking at my two im sure someone will come along and correct any errors

dave

Pretty sure both the team and works had carbon chassis, main differences between the team and the works were the rear suspension, purple anodising and the pro hard anodised shocks

This by far the worst car I have ever built but my first Schumacher. I’ve built several Tamiya, TRF, Kyosho YZ10 models but this was definitely a painful experience but also parts quality is so poor as is the finish. Steering is a joke followed as per instructions and very stiff not free and smooth like wise the pivot on the balls for the hub.

I mean who the hell uses self tappers into aluminium? For the eccentrics why could they have not tapped it and used fine screws? If Tamiya could manage it back in the 80s?

Now I need to find a circlip pliers that’s small enough and the car is done oh and the missing roll bar joint end from the kit.

I just hope when I run it doesn’t disintegrate.....might use a mild 17T brushed motor.

I'm using a 10.5 brushless with mild boost on standard transmissions indoors at worksop masters had no issues yet with failing tranny

Just make sure front gearbox housing screws are nipped tight mine has slipped once causing loose Belt tension on front

The idea of 're release was an authentic copy of original and that's what we got
I think most have become shelf queens not seen many racing yet

Regards dave
