Good update Moggers.

I might give the Tamiya blades a go. I also really liked the gear diff in the 511, and am concerned the blades I've been using might be too weak. I'll know better after this week - more testing and will check after every run, see how they are lasting.

But 3 runs per set of blades does seem little extravagant - I think I was hoping for at least a meeting or two out of a set of blades at the very least.

I mean, the ball diff does handle very well. I'm not sure if the benefit of the gear diff is worth the extra worry, and "every run checking" of the blades. But I'll keep playing with it too.

That is, until the internals collapse! LOL!

Guys

If there is enough demand I will get drive cups made by RW Racing that will do the job, let me know, also price is unknown as present, but will alter depending on how many in batch. My guess anything for a full set 2 pairs (total 4) 15 - 20 quid tops maybe less.

I will be having some made no matter what but would not want others with there 511's/501's to miss out.

Ta Steve

Correct me here cuz I am a little bit confused. There will be a re-release of the 511 with gear diffs as far as I know. Right?
Could it be with a ta05 geardiff that has got different outputs so blades wont be necessary or will there be an all new diff altogether?
Either way I am extremely hopeful it will arrive soon so I can start race it

I do hope it won´t be just a re-release with Gear diffs but a bit of an evolution, including maybe Diff covers and some other stuff...

Do you mean the TA05 Diff is already available or the 511 diff because as far as i know the 511 Gear diff should be released at beginning of September...

54312 TA05 Gear Diff. No blades used. Would be keen to hear how people find this diff.

Anyone know the part number for the 511 gear diff that's to be released so I can order a bunch of them in?

I've been running the (admittedly) expensive Pumilio Design geardiff for the 511 for about a year now, only changing oils every now and them.
The Tamiya diffs should be much cheaper, so no excuse to at least try them out. You dont know what you're missing out on

So does it mean the DB01 Gear Diff Unit and Diff Joint Cup is for the DB01 AND TRF511 wether the 42213 will be the TRF511 with gear diffs?

DB01 and 511 always shared the same diffs.
42213 should be 511 kit with these diffs.

51472 & 51470 are spare parts for the diff.

Is the kit happening? Surprised there's still no official word?

Also, I thought DB01 had plastic outdrives..do you know if the above parts are metal?

What I meant was that DB01 and TRF511 has the same drivetrain so also the diffs are interchangeable.

I'm sure the diff is just like all the other Tamiya gear diffs released (TRF417 model, TA05 model, TA06 front), i.e. white with the same gaskets, o-rings, shims and everything, just different housings with the right amount of teeth and the pulley in the right place (widthwise) and outdrives that fit the model in question.

So these new diffs for the DB01 and TRF501 & 511 I'm sure will have steel outdrives. Also don't get hung up on the DB01 name, Tamiya just always put a model in the product name, but that does not mean it is just for the DB01, e.g. the TRF417 has many parts which are TA05... or TA06... something

Dunno the facts on the 42213 kit with diffs. Seems it has been delayed? But with these diffs to be released in October maybe that's the reason...that they were delayed and therefore the kit. Alternatively maybe Tamiya did not get enough pre-orders to warrant a production run yet....
