MIBO says this is the production version.

I am very sure some that pre-ordered will start pulling out some hair when looking at the pictures.

if you look at the FB-page of Mibosport, you will understand what they mean with the basic version.
Eventhough the towers are plastic, they look very strong/well shaped and will not dig in.

In general it however looks a little more 'plastic' than the YZ-2 in this 'basic' trim:
Do I see?
- plastic rear hangers
- plastic steering system

Really curious now about the price for this kit...
i am sure it will be a great machine, but I wonder if the price will reflect the package or not. I am not a huge fan of tuning parts, I mostly try to keep my cars as stock as possible(which works for the YZ-2 and the B-max4 v3) , but I clearly see a lot of expensive options coming and some of them really necessary.

I'm exactly thinking the same. really stunned by this kit, didn't think Yokomo would bring out a kit with this much plastic.
even more after the Bmax4-III en YZ2

The original Bmax was plastic fantastic if I remember right, it was supposed to be a cheap car to get people racing Yoks, whereas the BX was the full fat race car, then Craggy won the Euros with the Bmax.......

Maybe the YZ4 has plastic bits to keep the price down, Bmax 4 iii is around £100 more then a XB4 for example, the projected price for the YZ4 is about the same as the XRAY.

Yes carbon towers are nice, but spend £50-60 on them & how much faster do you really think you'll go?

The original B-Max 4 (I/II) had a lot of plastic indeed. I think people want the same "look and feeling" as they got with the YZ2 (even though Yokomo admits the YZ2 was specced out too much, e.g.: too much bling ): that's Alu and carbon. Not plastic. It's a bit about the feeling you get, for sure the YZ-4 will be a good car, even with the plastics, but people want a certain feeling and that's not what you get when you have a all plastic car in your hands. I can understand the disappointment by some people. Wouldn't surprise me if Yokomo does change the kit a bit. They know about the disappointment.

MB Models are suggesting a RRP of £365 so it will probably sell for sub £350. Add a £100 of your choice of bling and you are in the same price range of the ZX6 at launch so it is in the window of prices for top end cars. There are cheaper cars out there so you pay your money and make your choice.

If it cost £600 in basic form but proved to be a killer car on UK tracks then they would still sell like hot cakes.

Looking forward to seeing if Yokomo have more luck in 4WD at the Worlds with it.

Rob

Price should be in the range of the YZ-2 price.

Many, including me, where expecting a kit like the YZ2, but are a bit baffled by all the plastic in this version.

Erm. Can't interpret? Look at all (i mean, seriously, the cars are loaded) the cars the team drivers are running. People see all those parts. You must understand they will never release a kit that team drivers run, but they went the cheap way now. I mean (even though it's not final yet) plastic shocktowers? Plastic steering parts? That stuff didn't came standard on the YZ-2, they went premium on that car and look how it payed off: YZ-2 is doing fine worldwide. The only downside what they did with the YZ-2 is that they didn't make a lot of profit per kit. But yeah, they earn more on parts than on kits anyway. I guess they went the "cheap" way to get more money in. Come on, go a bit more premium and people will be more satisfied. As posted above, the K2 (not that i'm going to drive one, ill get myself a YZ4 anyway) is "much" more bang for buck out of the box.

If you compare the YZ-4 to the B-Max4 III, the B-Max4 III looks much better when you compare the parts.

I know, kit isn't final yet (Carbon towers wouldn't surprise me at all). But yes, some people are disappointed, maybe you are not, but you will max out your car anyway. Some people don't, some people want decent cars out of the box - I don't say the YZ-4 isn't decent. But you pay a fair amount of money, so yeah, some Alu would be fine. Just like the YZ-2.

I must admit that as someone who owns a mint bmax4 the new yz4 is a bit disappounting.

Yes looks a great design but i cant help looking as plastic towers etc and thinking ermmm.

I liked the spec of the yz2 and suprised its not the same tbh. Its certainly a good way away from what they are running at the worlds. As someone said it looks like a sport budget version.

It doesnt help i have only done 4-5 meetings with the bmax but when the price is released that will be my deciding factor. Alongside if i can sell bmax. Rather than a few days ago buying a yz4 no matter what.

Ive certainly lost the rush to get one which is not like me. Back of my mind is what versions next and il regret getting this version.

The press release comments on the desire for small diffs, I presume this is to reduce rotating mass and inertia but how will this make the car easier to drive? Surely the wheels and tyres will have a far bigger influence on rotating mass and inertia, will we see lightweight wheels/tyres/inserts in the future? Or do the diffs have a different influence?
