Default TRF511 Lipo cradle

Iīve designed a lipo cradle for the TRF511.
With the cradle the lipos are moved back to clear the center bulkhead. It is secured with 2 screw. The front screw is using the same hole as the original battery post. The rear screw uses the same hole as the undertray. So no need to modify the chassis. I also use the original battery posts and battery plates. The cradle is 69x47mm, so most saddle pack lipos fit. Will be available in plastic and carbon fibre.

Simple and genius.
Rather do that than the grinding operation the Tamiya team did on their cars. Lucky for me we live in the same city. No problems for you to ship them though.

Does this cradle by any chance fit the 501x as well?

I would also like to know if your cradle would fit the 501x; I was under the impression that the 511x had the cells moved slightly forward?

Fredrik, I'm also interested in the 501x diff covers, have you any more information on price and shipping costs? I have to say your creations are absolutely stellar.

Regards,

Julius.

Thank you. Iīm glad you like them.

There is a cradle for the 501X on itīs way too. Will post pictures of it in the next couple of days.
The main difference it that it only has 2 holes. You attach it with the battery posts. Very simple.
The diff cover for the 501X is also available.

Will update that thread tomorrow with fresh pics of the final cover and price. Will cost approx $45. Not the cheapest, but it will save you a lot of maintenance and belts/pulleys.

Tomorrow I will hopefully have a price on the lipo cradles as well. Should be approx $20-$25. Thatīs a more "normal" price.

511 LiPo tray also back in stock. Slightly redesigned with a "slimmer" look.

What battery straps are those? The reason I ask is I need some as my car only has 1x tamiya carbon straps and they are pretty hard to get hold of

Thumbs up Plus one for a great design!

I have Fredrik's LiPo cradle on my 511. Even the taller IP 5 200 mAh 45 C LiPos fit perfectly. You only need to add a few millimetres of washers on the battery post screws. There is no need to file anything.

Great design!

Off Topic:
I look forward to tear down the differentials after a few runs on our dirt track! The car also has Fredrik's front and rear diff covers.

Iīve made a new lipo tray for the TRF511.

With the tray the lipos are moved back to clear the center bulkhead, just like the previous tray.
Carbon frames are secured with 2 screw. The front screw is using the same hole as the original battery post. The rear screw uses the same hole as the undertray. So no need to modify the chassis.
I also use the original battery posts. The cradle is 69x47mm, so most saddle pack lipos fit.

Center piece features 2 stainless steel weights. They weigh 17 and 27 grams. They are attached with the pre-drilled hole.

Each weight has 3 threaded holes and 1 slot. Holes allow you to adjust position and slot to add second weight without removing the first weight. Just slide it in under the first one.

Thanks!

Will add price later today. Expect to have all parts ready within 3 weeks.
Stainless steel parts are already in stock.

One thing I will add is the option to use shorter centerweights, as these long ones canīt be used with the long diff cover.

You will be able to buy the each weight separately, so if you want 2x17g or 2x27g for example, thats ok.

Any price yet Fred?

Does the tray move the cell further out from underneath the bulkhead?
