Default Steering help needed. please

Hi

I couldnt find the offroad 10th forum section. Is there one?

Anyway. I have a Lazer ZX-5 which is running good. The only issue being the steering. there isnt a huge amount of slack in any of the steering parts. but multiplying the play in the ball studs, servo save and steering rods there is movement in the steering. at speed this is making the car difficult to control and even more difficult to track straight.

Any ideas on how i can fix or improve this. thanks.

Normally the slop in the steering is taken up by the forces on the car when it moves. Normal wear is not a problem. Generally the cars are harder to drive if all the slop is taken out.

If the car is uncontrollable, it's more likely to be a problem with the servo horn or servo saver (if these are a bad fit or too soft then the steering won't return to centre properly), or the servo itself, or damage/wear/binding in the suspension/transmission.
