tx for small hands (4 years old)

Any ideas? Would like epa and expo adjustment. Thinking sanwa mx-v at the moment.

set my kids off on steering wheels as the future is cheeper than sticks and you can get some great specs at a good price, the one thing I found is I had to put some large fuel tube on the break side of the trigger as the gap is huge for little fingers and their finger is to short to push the trigger away for breaks/reverse, the fuel tube is great as it closes the gap up nicely. Also buy a smaller set to start off with as a huge heavy set with drop down etc they struggle with holding the set up and operating the throttle at the same time.

son uses spectrum at the min, can't remember the model but it has everything you need for about the £100 mark, and it has taken a few careless drops

Thanks Mick and racingdwarf, ive just been to try a couple. The sanwa mxv and the cheapest futaba. Both had quite chunky handles but he could reach to pull the thottle ok.

I think ill do as you say with fuel tube and maybe just use drag brake for now.

Does your spectrum have interchangeable grips?

Spektrum DX3c is a great starter Tx, in fact it does everything you really need for a long time. I've got both my kids on them and they manage no problem. not as young as 4, but 5 is fine. Agree reverse is a slight problem, but kids just want to go forwards at that age.

The other advantage is they are light so they can hold them no problem.

Archie (5yrs) has been on the Dx3c for a year now, cracking set, no issues for his hands.. rx's are cheaper too, unlike sanwa!

Or a used dx3c or new dx4c. Think the 3c is discontinued?
Tyler loves orange though, so unless the gt3c is terrible I think its the winner.

The gt3c is not horrible, but not great either. They have some well documented issues (power switch fails-just relocate somewhere sensible and can suffer from cross talk), and don't have a well built feel, but is that a problem for a 4yr old, doubt it...

Thanks, Ive read about the power button. Its a minor concern for me though. Dont like the idea of cross talk though

I used to have one a couple of years back. The power button failed (or the connections failed to be precise) in the first week. Used better quality wire and it lasted 6 months.
I did suffer some cross talk on larger meetings especially(oople series) but also on some club nights, not too bad but it was there. Might have been unlucky but my experience wouldn't make me recommend one. I know others that love them, but they just bash in a deserted field, so cross talk isn't going to be a problem.
Moved on to spektrum and never had those issues again.
What do you use Danny, isn't it worth just getting a cheaper handset of the same make so you can have backup receivers/tx?

Ye I use futaba bud, their a bit on the large side unfortunately and recievers cost a lot. Be as cheap to buy 2 spectrum ones. Im starting to lean to the spectrum now. Ill be buying one tomorrow so ill whack a wanted add up I guess.

have you thought about the cheap "losi" spectrum wheel radios have a couple of features also not great loss when it gets dropped

Thanks Dave, tuning it on the handset is a strong point of mine so need the bells and whistles really.
