I raced My YZ-2 for the first time yesterday at worksop. I have some thick/super tough material intended for motocross bikes, so I thought I'd use some of that to make a chassis protector. It worked perfectly and it's already saved the chassis from a few nasty scratches. I had to pull the back end of it up to make some changes but it still stuck back down just like the first time. The next one I make will be in carbon effect material.

The ones on my son's and my Firebolt were included in the kit, the one I just ordered comes from Sven Rudig's RuddogShop.eu in Germany, one of my two domestic go-to online stores. Maybe the British VBC Racing distributor SMD offers them or is willing to distribute them in Britain.

I've ordered mine from MB so just awaiting it arriving...

I'll come and find you and Neil for set up help - hopefully I can't get it any worse than the bmax2 set up I was running at Cully!

Danny, are you also running a ball diff? Seems to be the general consensus?
I did race mine, geared, loved the feel in the infield, direct, aggresive, caught me out a few times with my hamfisted attempts at a fast lap lol!
Just struggle punching it out of corners, so ive a ball diff to try now, should see me right ?

Ive ran the ball diff from new so cant compare. The driving style does require easing the power on out of corners in comparison to the bmax2 though. I found it pretty loose in that respect at first.

Some things to try would be going up on rear diff oil (my ball diff is tight), taking out a spacer from the rear shock shafts, shortening the rear links, and if you can begrudge it, getting some +1deg rear blocks. I now just need the blocks but its already much more locked in than my first couple of outings. I expect it to be very close the the bmax2's locked in rear with the extra rear toe. Id only use them on very low traction though.

Made these today. Fits infront of servo. What do you reckon guys? 22grams.

Car is dialled now too, put it 6th in the A at worksop. Rear is locked under power and pivots nice on the brake.

Wow, nice result there Danny. Looked good in the practice heat I watched when I arrived, shame I couldn't have stayed longer to see some more of the action.

Mine's arriving on Thursday - can't wait to build it up and get racing again after over a year away from off road.

Has anyone tried a brass front weight (hinge pin holder) ? Or does the car not need much weight up front ? .

Also has anyone worked out the spring weights yet ?

Mine has just been built (awesome build!! ), just gotta paint the shell and finish the electrics! , first run on sunday at TORCH

I ran 14g in the bulkhead and then 20g infront of the servo instead. Car felt more balanced with it infront of the servo.

Ive now settled on 55g under the shorty, 30g under the gearbox and 22g infront of the servo. Cars very planted and balanced like this.

Ye pretty sure it would be overkill/unbalanced. Sure it may be fine if you add weight everywhere else. Im going from personal experience though and just know mine is dialled now, stupidly faster than i ever got my bmax2.

I am the West Bridgford club Race Director so mainly race there. Not been racing off-road for the past year or so I'm looking forward to getting back into it in time for the upcoming Mid-East regionals. I'll be a bit rusty at first so I expect I'll be getting in some outdoor practice at the likes of A1 Racing and Broxtowe too.

Upgrades!

And new brass parts by Yokomo EU:

I like the black on the hubs. But won't be cheap. Guess around 40E.

Nice!!

Don't the BMax2 hubs fit already (but without the lovely "black" look)?
