I was going to post this info directly to AndyS, but figured others can read it too.

DJI have released a Naza Lite GPS controller, for lots less than the original Naza and the new Naza v2.

its £144 for the FC + GPS device, so well priced for that functionality, given I paid £120 for just my GPS add-on module for my Naza.

Limitations are the expansion options with v2 PMU and addons like coming bluetooth moudule, etc. its basically a V1 Naza (with GPS) without the expansion port.

Hi Neal

Can't decide on this as I like how the KK2 flys and I like being able to alter settings via the LCD.

I'm worried a Naza will be awkward to set up and tweak to get it flying how I like..?

Also - my KK2 arrived the other day.

I've been reading about the ArduPilot Mega 2.5 controller, and the cool looking Mission Planner software for autonomous flying.

When I was looking into my 1s purchase - Peter King was very helpful and he sells ready build quads / Hex's with the ArduPilot controller. When I spoke with him, he said it does all the Naza does and more for much less.

The Ardupilot looks like the just thing for setting up waypoints and flight paths to film, autonomous flights or survey "jobs", rather than just flying round like we are both doing now with ours. Its the sort of thing you need the laptop with you all the time to make settings changes and even communicate with it during flight. its a different application to the relatively simple KK2 controller with its screen/buttons setup, and the Naza, which once setup you're good to go.

i have a APM2.5 and you don't need a computer/laptop with you if you want to fly....if you want to set up the mission planner then you need it but for general flight it's no different setting up than say the naza

What I meant was the KK2 and Naza don't have that functionality, so you wouldn't have to bother dragging a laptop with you to fly or use its features that need the laptop. That's not a negative point about it, it's just a different box that's suited to other applications, including just plain flying it round, but mostly the features over and above the other controllers. If I had invested I one, I'd be doing those sorts of things that need the laptop. It does look a great unit.

Do you know what you need to set on the Naza to get it flying properly with the TBS Frame?

I'm keen to get the TBS and use a KK2, but I can't find anywhere online that states the correct mixer editor settings to make the KK2 / TBS fly properly. I assume the Naza will also be set to X Quad with the TBS frame - and I guess it also will not fly properly.... Confused.

There's a vid on youtube that goes into exactly how to get the KK2 to work correctly with the deadcat frame, which is very similar to the TBD disco. I'll have a look in a min.

What I was hoping to find we're the correct settings for the TBS frame and KK2 - save me having to mess around - or worse still work it out.

Also - how does the Naza work / compensate for frames like the TBS?

And... Postie tried to deliver motors - picking them up from depot tomorrow

Ok - got the Naza lite flying in the Tarot 650.
Bit 'wobbly'
Put the basic gains on a TX knob and dialing it up helps a bit.

What do the atti gains do - should I mess with them?
Also if the Quad climbs when yawing is the yaw gain too high or low?
Lastly - if it struggles to maintain hover altitude do I go higher or lower on the throttle gain ?

On the 550,I went for the recommended settings as per the manual and don't have any problems. However mikes probably the man to speak too.

Have you tried lower settings at all. I was under the impression that if the gains were too high they spiral and wobble a bit but I'm no expert.

Maybe a trial and error needed sadly.

Id like to read up more on gains to get a better knowledge.

basic gains are how quickly it recovers/levels. atti gains are how quickly it responds to stick input. vertical gain sounds too high. it should hold altitude at stick centre. fallng gain to low. rising, to high.
there are good tuning instructions in the gain page on naza setup app.
