There is only so much torque and pressure you can put through a belt and with the amount of speed and torque today's motors are producing a belt is not effective enough. Schumacher will eventually have to make a change. On a personal note I would prefer belt drive over shaft drive.
Oh dear ...

I have a k2 a kc, kd had sv, Sv2 sx, k1, Aero, and the sv sv2 kf, kf2 kf2ec

To change from belt to shaft in a kit would take slot of work and would be far cheaper to have two cars.

Diffs gearbox housing to take crown wheel and pinions, new centre gearbox, new centre slipper or different, too decks etc etc.

If belts were so fragile touring, 10th/8th ic track and 5th on road woukd not all use belts

I don't think the issue with belt drive is the reliability but how a 1/10th buggy handles with belt drive compared to shaft drive. If you look at all the belt drive 4wd buggies that have come out recently none have done really well on high traction tracks, even Yoke is going back to shaft drive.

Michal has been spanked at last Euros, so is belt drive buggy still competitive ?

On high traction I think belt drive suffers, on dirt and low traction it seems to do well.
