Ansmann Deuce-E Buggy

I'm thinking of buying an 1/8th electric and like the layout of the Ansmann Deuce has anyone used one for racing and if so are there any problems I should be looking at?

Hi Alan,i really wouldn't recommend it. I've heard a LOT of bad things about them from friends.

Go for Losi,Mugen,Associated or kyosho etc.

Associated are releasing the rc8.2e RTR version,which is pretty neat.

I understand expensive,However fixing the Ansmann every now again will cost a bit too,and for that its worth getting something better and not having to fix it that often.

I must say I agree with Nasir on this, i've never seen a Deuce-e but don't really like the look of it in web pics.

However a couple of guys at our club (South Coast RC) have successfully raced the Ansmann X8e for a season without any breakages:

These aren't RTR (you'll have to build it) but this gives you the option to choose your own electrics etc., and they're priced to bridge the gap between something cheap like the Deuce and million$$$ stuff like Mugen etc.

I have an HPI Vorza which is an excellent option if you're really keen on going RTR, these are competitive pretty much out of the box:

OK yes I see the points raised, the thing I liked about the Deuce apart from price is the layout and position of the cells either side of the centre line B44 style,

BTW doesn't the Deuce also use the drive line and suspension from the X8e ?

I wasnt Mr Pink that was the other guy who went up in smoke LOL

A few bits look the same but I think the shocks and towers look different, and to offer it at that price they must have cheapened it somewhere. Also on the RTR version the ESC looks a bit weedy TBH.

The X8e also has the either side battery layout.

BTW, how well does the Swindon track drain in the event of heavy rainfall the night before a race, and would it be possible to race my Vorza there sometime? It's really not that far from Wimborne.

As we run all astro and its over hardcore we have no problems running through the winter, our next meeting is this sunday and we are then running every other Sunday

Have just been offered a kyosho inferno ve looks a better bet

The Inferno is a better option I think, it mates a proven chassis with good quality Orion electrics.

Anyway,back to 1/8 electric's.

Yea the kyosho is about 99.999999% better than the Ansmann.
Although if your looking for a fully rtr 1/8 racer i'd recommend the Vorza, that's RTR. But it costs a bit...

Most people buy kit's now and put whatever they want in them.

Swindon is a GREAT track,its quite far from my house. I've been there once and it was awesome. It was raining that day actually. But the track drained it up quite quickly.

REMEMBER TO BUY RC LAZY GOO. It waterproofs your electronics. Thats what most the 1/8 electric guys put on. Even the nitro boys put this on receivers and any other electronics.

If your changing from 1/8 nitro then electric will take time to get used to. Its a completely different feel and the way it handles,and always have a laptop handy. I'm always changing my esc settings as the track/weather conditions changes. I forgot my laptop last time at slough and i struggled!

And remember battery's have to be good!. Don't settle for low amp battery's as they will ruin your motor and esc.

Alan,if i try out for the winter championship can i win it with my Slough membership ? i also have a BRCA membership aswell?. Some clubs don't allow races or championships to be won by non members of the club.

I have used both mentioned cars and the Deuce drives better than the Kyosho Ve.

For starting out the buggy will be fine just change the hinge braces to Ali! And it's saddle packs aswell, plus you need the HB pinions has the shank is shallower so it just fits you can get a Deuce roller for £80 and new electrics £100 and lipo £60

Mr Pink is Matt dont worry you will know him as he has moved to 1/8th elec for the winter Thanks for the tip about the Goo yes have used it on my B44 so i know it works, to be counted for championship you will need to join but as we have put or membership fee right down it won't break the bank

Cant ignor the Inferno at the price offered it would be rude not to

I would HIGHLY recommend buying the Kyosho inferno over that Ansmann thing .

Kyosho's are just brilliant cars with superb build quality.

if you want side by side lipos get the, Serpent 811E "sport". Very solid car I run the pro version, tough as nails. That duece biggalo looks like a cheap giggalo.
