Default Leisure Battery/Charger

Hi, coming to the meeting on Sunday at Goshen Park to give my buggy a proper run in over 10 years but need to purchase a leisure battery and charger. Was hoping that you guys would be able to point me in the right direction, found this one on the net. Thoughts on it please.

Thanks alot
Wayne

It depends on your setup - but with modern electrics thats a bit drastic. You'll find with brushless and lipo you'd need something less than half that size. Typically we use about 1 to 1.5Ah per race, so you don't really need more than 11-20Ah from your leisure battery.

Actually most people just charge from their car. Unless you have several people hooked on or a knackered battery you'll not use enough to cause a problem starting the car.

Go to a local scrap yard and pick up a smaller (easier to store and carry) or whatever size old car battery (check it still has life) for free or next to nothing.
I did this a while ago and it still works now.

Default battery

I use a Fiat punto battery. Cost about £25 from local car accesory shop. I run two chargers and it hasn't gone flat on a race day yet.
