This has been asked so much it bores me now answering it
Just buy the vented caps and use an o ring
You will be very happy

This is my knowldge about the 5 ways to build the shocks:

1. Standard shocks:
- built as per instruction manual
- using the Diaphragms

2. Standard shocks with vented caps:
- built as per instruction manual, but the shock cap is replaced by 4209
- letting away the screw allows a very "sensitve" working of the suspension, but no more rebound

3. Shocks with vented caps, emulsion
- build without the bladders /diaphragms but with vented caps
- maximum possible sensitivity, but not very usable on tracks with huge jumps
- the vented caps come with O-rings, so no need to cut the bladders /diaphragms

4. Standard shocks, emulsion
- build as per instruction, but the bladder is "cut away", but you need the outer ring of the bladder as the seal for the shock cap.
- more grip on slippery surfaces
- note taht after a flip over it may take a few seconds that the oil can "damp" and after a while the oil fully filled with bubbles

5. Standard shocks, foam
- built as pert instruction, but above the bladder/diaphragm there is a block of foam
- very stiff suspension

And now, the team drivers can correct me.

I believe the bladder type shocks are a bit better on tracks with large jumps and helps to prevent the chassis bottoming out, whereas the emulsion type are better on tracks with rougher sections. I prefer emulsion type as it seems to calm the car down at our track. I presume running with vented bladders would be somewhere I between the two.
As Juergen has said maybe a pro driver will correct us but that's how I find them.

So when I am looking at the set up sheets and they state that they are Emulsion shock caps , but Vented is not ticked then these are the O rings only with the standard damper cap contained in the kit ?

Or are they really the vented caps (filled through the vent ?) to avoid excess air with the emulsion O ring in place - In which case it would make more sense to tick both Vented AND Emulsion boxes on the set up sheet ?!?

3 and 4 are the same you only run vented caps (no bleed screw) with diaprhams fitted, otherwise wanted caps no diaphragm will just blow oil out

Emulsion socks are cut diaphragm or oring, with kit tops or the vented/bleeder tops. The small screw aids bleeding and is not for filling
