Default Reverse delay on brushless ESCs

How do you like delay on brushless ESCs when going reverse? I really DONT! When we races for fun with friends it drives me crazy. ESC producers says, that this feature saves my car. But I dont care about my car. Do you?

Skoky.

If there was no delay the pinion on the motor would do serious damage to the spur gear and possibly alot more damage along the drive train of the car. So either you accept the delay and be able to drive the car or if you have no delay then expect the motor to whine and then you will be whining as the car is not broken and you have lost out on your fun.

most esc's have the option to either have instant reverse, or brake - delay - reverse.

The delay is basically there to protect the transmission, if you run without the delay it'll stress the transmission more and this will reduce the life of the transmisson parts...

...just means more maintenance on the car, and running the risk of it randomly breaking!!!

This is your ESC, not the brushless setup doing this. Either read up on how to set up your ESC or get a new one...

With a brushed motor the brushes always know where the armature is. In a brushless sensorless system if the motor is not turning then the speedo does not know which phase to energise to get the motor to spin. If you have a sensored brushless system then this will not be the case but remember that brushless motors are usually a lot more powerful than their brushed counterparts.

Now this is the same as people who yell at marshals for not being fast enough - You're the one that crashed, its YOUR fault not theirs.
Likewise you wouldn't need to worry about reverse delay if you didn't have to reverse.....................
